If BRoy had stayed healthy and the team had progressed as planned, I think we would have contended. He only got one healthy playoffs and he was great. We just were too green to do anything that year. I also think if we'd had a healthy Roy against Phoenix, we would have knocked them off.

Andre Iguodala? You mean the one who plays for the 76ers, that Andre Iguodala? Get him at all costs and figure it out later? That's the answer? ... What was the question again?

yes. target allstars before targeting role players.

    possibly available.
    upgrade at position.
    around same age as LA.
2 years left on his contract.

    Jamaal Magloire was an All-Star.

Iguodala is a pretty much a glorified role-player. He's not a bad player, but he won't move the needle any closer to a championship by getting him and he's starting to slip. Can we really count on New Jersey to give us a lotto pick in two years when it's not working out?

Here's a hint: Look at Iggy's free throw rate to know how much of a "go to guy" he is now.

yes he was. i'm not saying it works every time, but it makes a ton more sense to trade for all stars and then get role players than vice versa.

Big deal. only 2 years on his deal left, its not like we'll be locked up long term with him if he doesn't work out and we'll have a tradable asset. better than trading Aldridge for draft picks and young non-allstars and tanking for 4-5 years and hoping it works out.

I think you mean perennial All-Stars. I can see how you'd get the two confused :devilwink:

basically its either that or take the Toronto way to rebuild:

yeah, no one is going to keep an eye on that.

Iguodala is a path to mediocrity, not a title. So if you're content to be a 6th seed and taking an early bow in the first round or maybe even get lucky and take a bow in the second, then by all means, let's get him.

by himself, sure. make a few moves. I don't think outside of Lillard and Aldridge there is anyone we really NEED to keep on this roster, so I say try to swing and get an allstar or two and go from there. Putting that forward and having his expiring deal after a season would probably help us more in the future even if it didn't work out. If you can make a package deal to get him, I think you need to do it. Better than filing the team with bunch of young talent that will never even get to being a second tier player at their position.

But using this time to trade LA for young players is huge waste of time. we're at a point where we have a guy in his prime, cap space, young talent and the ability to get an allstar via trade..then you fill it with some veterans.

not getting all-stars is the path to not even making the playoffs. like I said, its just as hard to get them even tanking through the draft when you consider how many bad teams stay bad with "good" draft picks. teams that build through the draft....usually continue to build through the draft. getting a bunch of young guys with potential rarely works out. In terms of NBA champions, its just getting the all stars of the league on your team.

Plan B should totally be to target any allstars. Hell, Dallas is fucked, go for Dirk. whatever.

any of our players outside of Aldridge/Lillard, future draft picks, absorb cap space, S&T Batum. who knows. just get something done if possible.

I agree, fuck the stats ... watch him move on the court and play, he's not the guy you keep asserting he is.

what, he's not an allstar? I'm not saying he's a top 10 player in the league, but he's better than Batum probably ever will be.

saw the Batum thing. if he's here for a lot of money, then Iggy doesn't make sense. I only wanted Iggy to replace Batum.
