The New York Knicks signed restricted free agent guard/forward Jared Jeffries to an offer sheet this afternoon, according to NBA sources. The Washington Wizards will have seven days to decide whether to match the offer. Team owner Abe Pollin, president of basketball operations Ernie Grunfeld and coach Eddie Jordan have all indicated a desire to retain Jeffries. Washington PostSource
there are rumors of a possible sign and trade involving quentin richardson for jefferies. i don't know how reliable that is but i would support it since quentin sucked last season and showed absolutely no skills offensively. he was solid defensively but jefferies is better defensively and can play multiple positions so hopefully that goes down.
Q for Jeffries? i don't think so. The salaries aren't even close, and even Isiah wouldn't do that one.
i read that the wiz plan on using the entire 7 days and the only way the knicks would be able to land jefferies is through a sign and trade. it looks like he's staying in washington then.
I really hope we dont try to sign him again. He isn't worth it Jarvis Hayes is back this year we have signed Darius Songaila and gives us the oppurtunity to go for DeShawn Stevenson.
why would the knicks sign him? Less they wanna trade Q rich for nothing. I dont think sign will help the knicks at all.
I dun c how he will fit in with this team's sloppy rotation. They let QWoods walk, so that might clear up some room for him to play, but I still have doubts. Can someone also explain to me that even if a contract offer is matched, doesn't the player have a choice between the 2 teams?
i dont understand why jared jeffries is even needed maybe isiah is trying to get rid of a few players
Dude, what are you smoking? Jared Jeffries is not trash. Far from it. He is a high-energy defender who knocks down open shots. He is a hard-worker, and he does all the little things clubs need to win. He should be starting at small forward for the Knicks.

I read in SI that a source close to the Wiz states that they are not going to resign JJ since they signed DS. With that I wish JJ luck. Look like he's going to need it. I just hope he practices on finishing at the rim because I have a feeling the knick fans won't appreciate those close miss shots.

No more rumors, Airblaze are you serious about him knocking down open shots? He has such little offensive talent, it's ridiculous. He is an okay defender, nothing too special, and it's true that he is a hard-worker but he can't accomplish much. Starting for us, because hayes was injured, he averaged 6 PPG. That's not bad coming off the bench but starting, you should be able to knock down better than that.
isiah signed him for DEFENSE. the knicks have plenty of offense. stop hatin on him for his offense cuz we can live with that. we struggled the most defensively. average defender or not i bet he's much better than anyone from last season.
As a 6-11 F/G, it's no surprise that he would be brought in for defense, seeing as he can make many mismatches. IMO, I think he should start at SG, and Crawford should be the SF. Also, if Marbury continues to be a good playmaker, this team could be on the rise. I also think that Jerome James, and ECurry should both start in the frontcourt.

Then you have to think if he starts how Jalen Rose, Crawford, Lee, and Q Rich will all get enough PT to be productive. With the people they have right now I don't see how Jeffries will get the minutes he needs to be productive.
