Sounds like EG wants out of NOH, after drafting Rivers.

"Paul didn't want to be in New Orleans any longer, either, and Gordon suggested if the Hornets match the Suns' offer and retain him, they'd be looking at a similar situation. The four-year offer from the Suns, a source said, includes a player option on the fourth year."

    Interesting.

NO would be wise to let him walk. Too injured

    interesting idea i just had

have these players sign offer sheets with player options after the 1st year, so that if they are matched, they opt out

This is the type of stuff that is wrong with the NBA. Gordon is about to sign a contract for a guaranteed 58 million dollars AND he will go to NO with an attitude problem.

For this league to work, players like Gordon should not be signing max contracts and then bitch about playing for NO. If he wants out that bad, sign a one year deal and become a UFA next year. But of course Gordon wants his money now, he will just bitch about playing for NO. Players are out of touch with the real world.

I suppose, and I agree that it's messed up, but if they get their way are they really out of touch?

Yes, the plan is probably that you can't play 48 minutes a game, or 82 games a year, so maybe you need a backup, dumbass.

Yet another reason to be glad the Blazers didn't make a play for this ass clown.

That would potentially be a dangerous game to play, but I like the way you think.

You can only have an ETO or player option in the final year of the contract. In the old CBA you could do both on 6 year deal, as Lebron Wade Bosh did, to end the deal 2 years early. But you can't do that anymore.

Gordon was injured this past season, but it seemed to be the case that he was more "benched" than "injured" for the chance to get a draft pick like... well, Anthony Davis.

I remember when they finally let him play again. As a Mem fan, being in a position where every game mattered down the stretch, we were on the verge of a #3/4 seed, and I figured the Hornets being on the schedule would be an easy win. Gordon tore us up though, gave us an L, and not too long after that game, he was "injured" again.

He had a really sketchy end to his season in terms of playing time. His first game back, he had 15 pts, then broke out with 31 in his second game back. After he showed that, they sat him for two and half of their next three games. When they let him off the bench again, he came back and went for 25 one night and 18 against MEM the next. He sits out two more games, puts up 27 and 17, then sits out the rest of the season. The whole thing just seemed like a tanking mess.

Based on his play at the end of the season though (when they let him play), I wouldn't say his game is still in tact.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, it'd make more sense for the Hornets to sign him at the MAX and then shop him in a Dwight Howard-esque situation. If there are teams willing to pay him the MAX, it'd make less sense to just let him walk. The cap room doesn't really help the Hornets too much, because, like with Portland, there are not a lot of players are begging to play for the Hornets in free agency.

Exactly. Is splitting 96 minutes between Gordon, Rivers, and Jack really that much of an issue? It's not like Rivers is the caliber of rookie that Davis is. He needs playing time in the lineup to develop, but he's not exactly a replacement for Eric Gordon.

Nic's agent mentioned specifically that he loved playing for Monty.

A Gordon/Batum type of S&T deal would have made a lot of sense for both sides.

Isn't Gordon shorter than Lillard? Yeah that would've been an interesting deal. Heck could still happen on Dec 15th if both teams as expected match.

I know I'm a fish out of water here in the Blazers forum, but don't you think that's overvaluing Batum (or undervaluing Gordon)? What other pieces would Portland throw in to make that happen?

Gordon is about a quarter to a half an inch taller than Lillard.

Don't you think you're undervaluing yourself? You're already more valued around here than I am.
