Honestly, I could careless if we land Green.. We already have Tyner. I think we need to focus on recruiting for both sides of the line as we have stacked Skill positions.

I can't believe that no one is excited for Byron Marshall.. Has anyone watched the kids highlight tapes?.. He reminds me of Lamichael when he first came. He has the vision, cuts, and ability like James had. I think that people will be surprised by the kid.

I have and he's a stud.... I think we are blessed at the high profile positions.... We could add maybe one more stud receiver and then I hope we focus on linemen and defensive secondary players..

My dream would be to pick up Redfield, Conner, Luke, Likely III Quessenberry, Vanderdoes, and Falah.

I see Redfield leaning towards USC, unless he feels that Oregon he can start ASAP or something. We'd have to impress him hard.

Nothing wrong with more OL like QBerry and Falah. And Eddie V is a must, but the idea of playing alongside the #2 DT in the nation(Bigelow) is very appealing. Or the idea of honing your craft to play in the next level(LSU/Nebraska). Of course, he could be like a Halota Ngata though

Marshall is so 2012 Football Commits and Recruiting News thread ;)

I've been hearing good things about his working out/preparing for the upcoming year. It's pretty much a lock that he'll be playing as a true Freshman.

based on what? I know he grew up there but dude is supposed to have real interest in UO. Its really doubtful that he'd start right away though as there are many quality Safeties ahead of him... he'll have to work his way up.

Haha I know, but you hear everyone talking about Tyner and how great he will be, but I think people forget that Byron Marshall will have an extra year experience and may be better.

according to a direct quote via rivals, Nico will decide between UCLA and USC within the next week. That said, within the same article he says he still plans on visiting Oregon on the 9th and is considering them :dunno:

The idea for learning alongside Su'a Cravens will be hard to resist. But if he goes to Oregon then great.

"The idea for learning alongside Su'a Cravens would be hard to resist"That's exactly right.... and for Vanderdoes to get to play next to Bigelow and having Hutchings cleaning up the middle. That's just a lethal class!

Best Defensive class hands down this year, all while on recruiting probation!

I still hope we get Redfield and Vanderdoes but something tells me USC has a handful of spots left with their names on them....

The bigger question might be what makes Duck fans think we will get these guys?

As it's been said to me time and time again, USC has the weather, the girls, national exposure, 5* after 5* recruit, big money, and they play no one in their division to make the Pac-12 championship every year...... Why wouldn't a Califonia kid go there or any kid for that matter right?

However if Redfield and Vanderdoes end up at UW a team most in this country have forgotten about with their new strength being Tosh, than I'd say we might want to look into our recruiters and see if they are really best suited for this competitive level we need to be at now. We only have 1 player in the top 50 and we are a top 5 school and a top 10 school three years in a row, so something is a miss.....

Some posters on this board don't put much value on 5* recruits and prefer the old guard way of recruiting that Oregon continues to do, but there's not a poster on this board or anywhere I'd bet that doesn't see the instant value DAT, COLT and AA brings to this team and they clearly are 5* level talent.

So while I'm sure it's easy to say the Ducks are looking for the right fit for both player and team,it's also clear to see we don't have a Tosh or a Monte Kiffin working for us and we need one.

Uncle Phil didn't invest a ton of his money to come in second, I think changes willl be coming in the recruiting department if we lose Vanderdoes and Redfield and they should!

In order for Oregon to win national championships we need top level high school players and there's no way around that! Please keep in mind we very easily could have lost the Rose Bowl last year had DAT decided to be a Trojan!

I dont think anyone here doesnt value freak athlete 5* Rated players.. and that we dont want them. But it doesnt always Pan Out.. according to Rivals, here are the 5* recruits that Oregon has landed. Haloti Ngata , Chris Solomona, Cameron Colvin, J-Stew, Lache Seastrunk, Colt Lyerla, DeAnthony Thomas with Thomas Tyner coming in. Looking at that list its pretty hit and miss (All Conference or Dud it seems) ... so its not the end all.

PS Arik Armstead hasnt played a down of College Football yet, I'll wait to put him in the same hemisphere as DAT personally.

PPS Ed Orgeron is USC's recruiting guru... not Monte Kiffin

Actually Lamo says over the last few years he sends his pops in to close the big time recruits.... says Monte puts their parents at ease!

I think it's unfair that AA is listed as a 4* where every site in the country had him as the top offensive lineman and a 5*..... talent wont change nor will his size and speed! He's a true 5* in my eyes and the nation will see that when he lines up at DE for us!

some posters don't read so good and then throw out laughable strawman arguments

Unfair? Like a lot of HS kids, AA played both O & D... the sites evaluated him on both sides of the ball. In college he's opted to play D, so the sites hold onto the rating there that they evaluated him at like they do every other kid. Of course star ratings don't really matter/won't affect a guys level of play one iota, but do you think it would be more fair for them to treat AA differently then they do the rest of the kids?

Honestly, I don't see what your complaining about. We've played in two rose bowls and a NC game in the last 3 years. In the last 13 meetings, Oregon has beat SC 8 times. In the last 5, we've won 3 times and this is no different SC team, they had the 5 star talent there .

you're so focused on stars, its sad how you forget how well our coaches can coach kids up. Lamichael James, for instance, was a 3* player.

Pull your head out of your butt. We're getting more Stars as the years go by. Maybe these kids are leaning towards Oregon because that's where they fit better. Not every kid in the nation wants to go to USC to play football, Not every kid in the nation wants to go to Oregon to play football.

As a program that wants to be ELITE, every year you have to improve. This year our recruiting has not been amazing, USC's has! We compete with them every year for the top dog biling, in hopes for a spot in a national championship game where we ar 0-2 in BCS games with the SEC that knows how to recruit and further knows how to beat us.

This is a recruiting thread! What should we be talking about here? BTW- those five stars won our Rose Bowl last year! Without DAT we're tied!

I totally agree.... That's why I'm amazed that most of the USC commits have already verballed before USC even plays us on Nov.3 which is still two weeks shy of letter of intent day for high school players.

The top 50 players look pretty much sold on the school they want atleast that what all the recruiting boards say.... hopefully the great weekend in Ptown and Nike got a few of them to think again!

one report via Tony D of rivals is that lowly 3* commit Alex Redmond has been dominating including pancaking Eddie V in 1 on 1 competitions in full pads... those head to head clashes really favor the D Lineman.

Nice. Maybe his stock may rise? :V

I know about our commits, but what about our targets?

And is there a forum like this one for Utah, Michigan, TCU, or WVU by chance?
