Well.... one could surmise that we'll (potentially) get a feel for what the truth is if Miller continues to stay with the organization (re: Miller being a managing partner for a group of Nike execs that could potentially own the Blazers - and that's why he's currently with the organization). If he stays, or another Nike exec-type comes in, I'd say that's a big indicator as to future ownership/management of the organization.
Interesting point about LeGarie. IIRC, LeGarie was very vocal in his dealings with the Blazers and didn't hide his hatred for all things Blazers/Miller. The fact that he represents Olshey makes me think Miller had nothing to do with this hire as you suggest. It could be entirely speculation, but this Larry Miller notion seems plausible.
I highly doubt the league would allow ACTIVE managers of Nike to own the Blazers. There is too big of a conflict of interest (and a potential for impropriety). It would be the perseaved potential that Nike would give players a much bigger endorsment contract for signing with the Blazers.... Retired Nike execs is a different matter.
The entire front office should be sterilized? Oh man. I mean, they may be doing a bad job but do they really need to be spayed/neutered?
I wonder what this does to the rumor of Paul Allen "promising" Larry Miller first crack at the team if he sells it.
I love how Tince is still looked at as an insider, even though there was no truth to the Soup Juggler crap, and I am still vilified over deal coming soon, even when it did come soon
