My summer vacation this year takes me to Costa Rica. I actually wasn't that excited to go, but was convinced by my travel mates. I got to say, I'm impressed. Staying in Manuel Antonio in a four story treehouse (no joke). As I type right now I am on the 4th floor in an open space living area with a sloth about 50 feet from me hanging out in a tree (hasn't moved for 2 hours now). First day we decided just to hit up the local beach. On the short drive I saw many different species monkeys, iguanas and lord knows what other animals I saw. The ocean was beautiful and the warmest ocean water I have ever swam in. Hung out with locals. played some soccer on the beach and body surfed til i was ready to drop. If there is any unpleasant surprise is this place is not cheap. Very tourist oriented with tourist prices. Parasailing was 100 (for two people), tomorrow a 3 hour jungle cruise for 75 per person. Not shockingly expensive, but not third world prices either. Food hasn't been cheap either, but haven't canvased our area yet for local eats. Other posters have had realizations and appreciation for this board. I am jumping on that band wagon. So far I love Costa Rica and wanted to share with someone. Immediately I thought of this board . . . strangely enough this board has become part of my life. So thanks to all on this board and allowing me to share. If I figure it out I will post pictures. For now, time for a costa rica beer (imperial) and catching up on the Blazers.
Wow ToB! Sounds like you're having a blast. Did I read that right that Felton is in a tree 50 feet from your room? Cool! Ask him for an autograph when he wakes up.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing. Been there once, Jungle tour and coffee plantation were among my favorites. Even whitewater rafted in the Jungle, pretty epic. Drink an Imperial for me!
A friend of mine took his then 17-year old kid to 'Rica. The kid was a virgin and got laid nearly every day (and night). I've seen a few pics of the chicks and I was astounded.
The country lives up to that reputation. I tend to love women of all nationalities, and maybe it is just because I'm on Costa Rica beaches where beautiful woman are plentiful and partially clothed, but the exotic Costa Rican look and attitude is on the top of my list. Zip lining tomorrow during day (hear it gets up to 45 MPH and my whimpy self who doesn't like heights has to admit I'm nervous), partying at night.

Caught a Roster Fish today (will post picture when friend emails it to me if can figure it out) I've done a lot of fishing . . . only weighed about 30-40 lbs but it felt like 140 lbs. Ran from the boat at least 4 times. Funny picture because my arms were rubber afterwards and could barely hold it up. Fishing was actually disappointing (not the season) but that one fish made my day . . . funky looking fish.
hey, looking at going to Costa Rica later this year...maybe May or June....Jaco Beach? http://www.jacovip.com/ Is that a good time to go? Good partying/ladies there?
well, just 4-5 days. still in the planning stages, other option is Dominican Republic or Colombia...doing a cousins trip..maybe rent a house.
Go to Colombia. And then tell me where to go in Colombia! I really want to do a South America trip. Hit up Manchu Pichu before it gets even more overrun, down to Patagonia and everywhere in between. Probably will never happen though. Too hard to take any big chunks of time off work.
