So, the Rockets get Toney Douglas, Jerome Jordan, Josh Harrellson and second-round picks in 2014 and 2015 in a sign-and-trade for Camby. The Blazers got Thabeet, Flynn & a 2nd round pick for him. Is it just me, or was that a really bad deal?

Well, obviously, but might it not have been smart to keep his rights until somebody did want him?

Wasn't trying to be snarky about it . . . I think at the time, Blazers wanted Camby out of the locker room and that was the best they could get at the trade deadline. Blazers could of pulled a Kamen type move and told Camby to go home until Blazers traded him in the off season, but I think Blazers wanted to be done with Camby more than anything else.

The reason we got rid of Camby was so that we could play the free agent game in the summer and replace him with the younger Hibbert.

Our philosophy is to abhor older, experienced players because they might break down in a couple of years. Anyway, we can always watch Steve Nash if we get tired of the Blazers losing this season because we have no Center.

I think you're right that the Blazers just wanted to be done with him. I wonder if this is a case where a more seasoned GM would have been of value.

I don't think Portland would want any of those players eating into their cap space anyway...

IMO it's too bad we dumped our solid vets, him and Andre Miller. This team could have been good right about now:

    Miller/Lillard
    Mathews/Batum/Williams
    Batum/Claver/Barton
    LMA/Freeland/Faried
    Camby/Pryzbilla/Leonard

That would have been a reload.

We grabbed a few players that we wanted to see if they were worth keeping around. None were.
