It looks like it could be a two-way race for veteran scorer Michael Redd this summer. Chris Tomasson of FOX Sports Florida writes that Phoenix and Chicago are both interested in adding Redd, who turns 33 next month. I've never been a fan of Redd's being as I really like defense and stuff, but for the minimum, I'm just fine with this and if GarPax is convinced he's fit and healthy, would even see him as a reasonable Korver replacement. Redd got better as last season went along. His season shooting numbers don't compare well to Korver's, but for March and April, he averaged 20.5 pts per 36 minutes on a respectable .528 TS% (April was much better than March, but I felt it was too small a sample). I also think it's important that Redd hasn't met many shots he doesn't like. He knows that he's out there to do what he does (shoot/score). He gets up nearly 17 shots per 36 minutes (vs 10-12 for Korver), and unlike Korver, Redd's not purely a catch-and-shoot guy (63% of his baskets were assisted vs. 93% for Korver). The Bulls 2nd unit is going to need someone who will get shots up. Say what you want about Redd, but he'll let it fly...and he even makes some of 'em. While the defense thing would normally bother me, when the comparison is to Korver, it doesn't sting so much. I'm in.
