Yeah, good translation! The announcers didn't say anything in yesterday's game, so I assumed he was playing tonight vs. France (with Batum, unless he's also traveling to Portland... or Minny, xD). Our next game is friday, so I suppose he'll be there a couple of days to sign and then he'll be back by then.
How much does he sign for? I'm not sure about this if its more than $2mil per. But less than that would be awesome.
I read the other day that he's still bound to the rookie scale, so he can't sign for a whole lotta skrill.
Oh good information! Thats nice to hear we got him on the cheap rookie contract. Heck I'm excited. Yes Rudy didn't work out here in the long run at all but he still had that great rookie year if Claver just has one year like that it'd make his contract a steal.
Paul Allen @PaulGAllen I'm happy to officially welcome our 2009 first round draft pick Victor Claver to @pdxtrailblazers http://www.iamatrailblazersfan.com/ArticleDisplay/tabid/120/itemid/3170/Default.aspx
Here's the statement from Portland Trail Blazers GM Neil Olshey on Spanish F Victor Claver, who officially signed on Wednesday: “Victor is a player with a high basketball IQ who will come in as a good complement to our roster,” said Olshey. “He defends well for his size, has a nice shooting touch, and we look forward to having him on board.”
Jason Quick: Blazers' Claver deal is for a total of $4 million over three years. Just slightly more than a rookie scale dea
We're filling up our roster with cheap rookies. We should have plenty of cap space next year to go after James Harden. Not sure what to think about Victor. He's euroleague production seems pretty paltry, but he seems to have a decent skillset.
Go after Harden next year? Gee, that will be another bit of excitement like the Hibbert chase, and most likely just as productive.
Harden will get the max and the market (Hibbert, Lopez) has been set for Ibaka and he'll also get the max. They must choose between the two.
Harden looks like the best one to go after though. The Thunder have a lot more committed in salary than the Pacers had. They have 40 mill locked into Durant, Westbrook and Perkins, and both Ibaka and Harden will be coming due.
Wow, the 2009 draft was not bad at all in the bottom half of the first: Code: 17. 76ers Jrue Holiday PG 18. Timberwolves Ty Lawson PG 19. Hawks Jeff Teague PG 20. Jazz Eric Maynor PG 21. Hornets Darren Collison PG 22. Trail Blazers Victor Claver SF 23. Kings Omri Casspi SF 24. Mavericks B.J. Mullens C 25. Thunder Rodrigue Beaubois PG 26. Bulls Taj Gibson PF I still maintain the Blazers were sure they'd get ONE of those PGs that went five-in-a-row before Claver, and that he was a fallback.
wendell maxey @w_maxey newest @pdxtrailblazers victor claver got some run for spain & pulled in 10 points & 9 rebounds in the win over france on sunday.
