When did I say that's what I think will happen? Didn't I just get done saying neither seems very likely? And now I'm an idiot if they don't make the top 7?

    Stay off drugs, Brian.

I've met Brian, I don't think he's ever taken an aspirin. He's not the mod on drugs around here.

So I guess the thread needs the question mark put back? Better yet just change it to "Minnesota Stupid as Shit?"

Change thread title. NOT full of shit!

Now Portland has to decide if they want to cripple their franchise for years by matching, or letting him go. Not a bright move by Olshey me thinks.

anyone else think it's funny that Haynes is the only one tweeting this? Not Nic, not Ndaiye, not Khan, not Jaynes, not Bucher...

Around $11m is what a lot expected he'd get.

Huh, I am thick headed, andI got the point the first time. I have to go with Brian on this. We all have to agree that Roy will not be able to play to his old allstar level, the odds of Rubio jumping in and playing at the level he was at are slim to none. I would expect to see Nics number go up, but, whos touches is he going to get? Loves? I give us the same odds of winning 54 games next year, zero.

Here's the difference, buddy. POR is already set up for a good stretch of cap space. Even if they sign (which they're going to do), they're under the cap this year, they'll be under the cap next year, Babbitt and E-Will aren't going to need extensions in the 3rd year (so we're ok) and Nolan aren't going to need large extensions in the 4th year (so we're ok), even if we extend LMA early.

How do you think we'll be crippled?

How will it be "crippling"? What move can we not make b/c of this extra few million? We're not going to be in the lux tax for at least 3 years, and that's if we spend like drunken sailors every MLE period. I don't see that happening.

We just locked up 5 first-year players at reasonable/rookie-level deals. We have 3 others (Nolan, Babbitt and EWill) who are still on (late-pick) rookie deals for 2-3 more years, we have one player making the MLE, and one making more than the MLE (LMA). If we match Batum, it's still not putting us within 4M of the cap line (much less the Lux Tax line) and we have flexibility going forward.

Making an offer instead of just waiting for Nicolas to take the QO and become an UFA next summer ... I mean I assume Minnesota really wanted him no?

If I'm right, we'd still be 6-7 million under the cap next summer too. There's nothing crippling about signing Batum and telling Khan to rot on Ceti Alpha V.
