Yeah I like Scola way more than Brand. Elton has not been the same after all his injuries.

the question might be: Do you like Brand at 2M better than Scola at 6M? :dunno:

I don't like Brand at all. I know he has long arms but he is 6'8" with no mobility left.

How many years are we talking?
Brand is 33, Scola 32. Is it the length of their current contract? That would make a difference. Scola has 3 and Brand has 1.

Looks like Scola will likely clear wavers due to an odd loophole in the amnesty rules, Darko could get by too:

I like Scola. But, with the resigning of Hickson does it really make sense to go after another 4 that deserves minutes?

Not really. What you guys really need in the front court is a stopgap C.

Do we even need a stop gap though? Were going to be shitty. I say throw Leonard to the wolves. Sink or swim.

Not to mention LaMarcus plays a decent amount of minutes at C, and Freeland can too.

Forgot about Freeland, and that Batum is likely on the way out.

I guess you probably will suck, now that I think about it, unless Lillard is ROY.

Not for any reason that I can think of. Now getting some kind of journeyman 5 on the other hand? ...

I would not over spend for Scola. But he has played a lot of center. Undersized as he is, he somehow gets it done.

Now we know why JJ signed a one year offer from the Blazers. His value would be half or less vs. 24 hrs ago. His agent is in the know... Smart.

Do any of our bigs necessarily need to be defined strictly as 4s? Other than Leonard (who is clearly a 5), I think it's arguable that all our bigs can play either 4 or 5, as could Scola. I mean, Thomas and Hickson would be our smallest pair of post players, and they played together quite a bit last year. I think it would be great to have a stable of 6 post players, any two of whom could play together at any one time.

I'm of the opinion that just cause a guy plays some minutes at the 5 doesn't make him a center.. That would make every PF in the league also a C. Hickson and Scola, to me, are guys that should exclusively be power forwards.

I guess it all depends on what you feel is necessary to be provided from the center position. If you believe that a center must be a shot-blocking rim defender, then sure, all our 6'9" guys come up short (pun intended). But if the main requirement is to defend in the post and rebound adequately, then there's no reason that Hickson, Thomas, & Scola can't fill that need for 20 mpg combined.
