Not yet but that's still not a reason to waste the amnesty.

Batum would be their anchor contract if we end up doing a SnT.

they amnestied Darko. He had 2/10.9M left, of which about 1.755M in 2013-14 was guaranteed.

Brian, why does the NBA site show Minny making a "qualifying offer" to Nic? Makes no sense

I was just looking at that. I don't know. As I said I don't get the NBA Transaction Feed, so I have to rely on the website (which can't even spell Kyle Lowry's name wrong) to tell me things like "Qualifying offer extended". The NBC site says "offer sheet signed". But I think they're just going off of tweets.

I thought the team he was on (POR) made a "qualifying offer" and the team trying to sign him (Minny) "extended an offer sheet". I know its semantics but wording in this stuff is important - a typo by the NBA site?

I thought the amnesty only applied to contracts under the last CBA? So I don't think you can't use that. You have plenty of other material/facts to work with though :)

For a player to be eligible for the Amnesty provision he must be on his team's roster continuously from July 1, 2011 to the date he is amnestied, without any new contract, extension, renegotiation or other amendment to his contract in the meantime. Players who were waived prior to July 1, 2011 and are still receiving guaranteed salary are also eligible. Teams cannot amnesty players they sign, receive in trade, extend, renegotiate, or otherwise amend after July 1, 2011.

Pending passed physical, Bulls have traded Kyle Korver to Atlanta. Could be sign-and-trade w/Hinrich. Details soon at

Elton Brand is "waived" twice on that web page, on July 12th and July 6th. Waived and Cleared waivers, right?

I think that page is over summarizing the transactions which can lead to confusion.

What was the benefit for Minny with the Korver trade?

"The Korver trade is via Minnesota into Atlanta's traded player exception, meaning Bulls get 2nd-round pick from Minny and save $500K."

Somehow it was supposed to cut salary? Or maybe just thought we would take Korver with their package for Batum?

If they fit Korver into the space created from amnestying Darko, and then moved him to Atlanta, they would generate a 5 mill. TPE. I just can't figure out why they'd need it, since they have that 5 million in cap space.
