We can't have enough bigs. Someone is bound to go down, especially with our track record. He's a guy I always hated to play but would love him on our team. ....and at $4 mill, why not? I would think he would be a very attractive trade piece down the road at that price.
Scola is better then all our bigs except LMA and at 4 million would be a steal. He would be also a good trading chip if we didn't need later.
It would be a nice pickup,I've always liked his game. He can play center for us too. Then we'd just need a vet PG. It would leave someone unhappy about their playing time though.... Lillard/? Batum/Williams Mathews/Barton/Babbit/Claver LA/Hickson Leonard/Scola/Freeland
Only the face a mother could love Old, yes, but he's crafty and can show our young guys how to flop properly in the NBA.
Lot of players who can play multiple positions. But yes PG is the biggest need right now. Lillard/?/Smith Wes /Williams /Barton/Batum Batum/Wes/ Babbitt /Claver LA/Hickson/Freeland/Scola/Claver Scola/Freeland/LA/Leonard
Yeah $4 mil is a great deal for a proven acceptable starter. Even if he losses a bit of production he'd be a stellar bench player. I think there is a longer restriction until we can trade amnesty pickups but still I'd imagine he retains postive value at the 2013 draft or next summer.
I really, really don't want Scola. I've always hated him as a player, he'd take minutes away from our young guys, but won't put us over the top of anything.
per Olshey this is about collecting asets, IMO Scola would be a very nice asset at 3 yrs for 4 mil per, use it in a trade later on or keep him as a backup
That's a weird sentence: it seems to imply that Aldridge and Hickson are the same. Scola has a better low post game than either (or indeed just about anyone since McHale), and although he's old, he's never been able to jump worth a damn (I don't think I've ever seen him dunk) and yet still leads international competitions in scoring and rebounding. Scola is FUCKING AWESOME. But he would be sort of wasted with us. I see him ending up with San Antonio.
