This whole fiasco reminded me of a certain scene... In the real world GM's and Agents play poker. This is how Kahn and Ndiaye prepared:
I could've sworn you were going with this one: Kahn: "All red....yeah!" Olshey: "I'm not sure what four nines does, but the ace, I think, is pretty high"
It seems the Minny fans are finally realizing the 7-day waiting period for players to clear waivers, and are pointing the finger at Ndiaye for causing this whole stir... EDIT - even though it appears Kahn was the one unfamiliar with CBA protocol. Maybe he should hire Tom Penn to educate him. Would make sense...
What was this guy's game plan again? Sign the first possible minute? "Portland had their chance. We are not waiting just to help them out" And he is still waiting................
He did everything in his power to burn the bridge. He did this without leverage. In other words, he's a blithering idiot and this whole fiasco is proof.
It's not yet August 15th... From July 1 to August 14 (I think) the wait is 7 days. After that it's 48 hours. So unless someone else gets traded, Minny won't have Martell's salary off the books yet on Sunday.
and if it's SEVEN more days (maybe 10 if we wait 3 more - lol) then Nic can't practice with contact or play the French teams pre Olympic games during that time, LMAO! if I am Nic I have to be seriously doubting my decision and Minny's mgmt for sure
Kahn is gonna have to either trade Williams + a 2nd rounder (at this point I bet thats what happens) or just realize he is the worst bluffer in the NBA.
Ok, someone needs to explain to me what the fuck? Is there or is there not a 7 day waiting period? If there is, how in the hell does Minnesota have the money to sign Nic on Sunday?
I was unaware Olshey had demanded anything, or even asked for anything. If he's smart we get at least one player (a center or PG) comparable to Batum in talent and age, who's not as soft as Batum. If he's intent on simply keeping an unhappy and resentful Batum it doesn't say much for his GM skills. We saw last season how players including Batum were willing to cheat the fans and deliberately lose simply because they didn't get their way.
They've waived Webster and Darko, and I presume they could backload it or something clever like that.
Nothing except Olshey saying Sunday has made me doubt the 7-day thing. So let's forget Webster for a minute. With amnestying Darko and trading Miller for nothing but a 2nd, they have enough (by my calcs) to offer 9.5M starting right now, which is a 4/40M deal. If they traded Ellington or Lee for nothing, then they could make it to the 10.9M starting salary they'd need for a 4/46.5M deal. IF (and a huge if) Webster's salary clears by Sunday, they can use that. but I don't think so. I think they're waiting for whatever needs to happen with the Korver trade and the Miller trade to be official before they can offer the sheet at 5pm Sunday.
