league sources said the Bulls have shopped Richard Hamilton’s expiring $5 million deal, which carries a mere $1 million guarantee for 2013-14. Thus far, there have been no takers. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sport...ahead-of-bulls-trade-20120714,0,7550317.story
It's a great as a vision but who is that person? The Bulls passed on both Jeff Taylor and Doron Lamb in the draft.
$5M off the books is that much closer to being under the LT and some flexibility to sign a different aging vet.
Those guys are too far away. Redd is too far gone. Someone more Rose's age and experience level. Someone from his draft class, even. Someone with something to prove, who could benefit from Thibs' coaching and championship demands. Someone.
Not only are they too far away, neither is likely to be a starting SG. Not saying one or both can't be, it's just not likely. I don't like what's out there. Courtney Lee's a solid player, but $8+mil per for solid? Mayo might be had for $5mil. He's a risky proposition who's had 4 years to live up to his hype and hasn't done it. I don't want Redd as a starter, but I'll take him for low $$ as the offensive focal point of the 2nd unit. At this stage of Redd's career, it could be the perfect role for him.
Yeah, Mayo is a risk. Potentially worth it on someone with something to prove. But I think it's an impossible dream.
