But to be fair 20 years of nothingess has hurt our all time rankings, back in 86 you couldn't argue against them but now the Lakers are a legitimate choice.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CB4AllStar @ Aug 2 2006, 08:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Hope you get banned soon enough :happy0144:</div>Go die?

Boston still has more chips than LA. So wtf are u on about? Besides, Boston has been to the ECF somewhat recently, that's something

They've been to 28 finals.

what about the 18 years between 1954 and and 1971 where the Lakers didnt win jack?you have to count that if you're gunna count the celtics inconsistency since 1986every team has had their bad stretch of seasons...just because the celtics had inconsistency recently doesn't take anything away from themthe lakers havent exactly been perfectthey had a bad stretch of seasons between 1990 and 1999it just so happens they got shaq in his prime and then after he left where have they gone?04/05 - Did not make playoffs05/06 - Lost in 1st roundlike the celitcs04/05 - Lost in 1st round05/06 - Did not make playoffs

We'll compare those two time periods between the two teams. Seeing as how neither team won any championships, we'll how far each team got.<u>Celtics</u>1987 NBA Finals1988-ECF1989-First Round1990-First Round1991-Second Round1992-Second Round1993-First Round1994-No Playoffs1995-First Round1996-No Playoffs1997-No Playoffs1998-No Playoffs1999-No Playoffs2000-No Playoffs2001-No Playoffs2002-ECF2003-Second Round2004-First Round2005-First Round2006-No PlayoffsThere were only 3 rounds in those days, so the second round was actually the Conference Finals<u>Lakers</u>1955-Second Round1956-First Round1957-Second Round1958-No Playoffs1959-Finals1960-Second Round1961-Second Round1962-Finals1963-Finals1964-First Round1965-Finals1966-Finals1967-First Round1968-Finals1969-Finals1970-Finals1971-Second Round<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (playaofthegame @ Aug 4 2006, 08:26 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>every team has had their bad stretch of seasons...just because the celtics had inconsistency recently doesn't take anything away from them</div>Of course it does. You can't just block out the last 20 years because it hasn't been favorable for your side. What if we were to block out 1957-1969?
Here's my take.1. Lakers They've won more games than any other team, have more winning seasons and the highest win percentage in NBA history. Plus, 14 NBA titles, 28 trips to the Finals and 26 Division Championships.2.Celtics If this were the 1980s then there would be no doubt that Boston is the Greatest NBA franchise ever, but since 1986 there consistancy has lacked a lot. And consistancy is a key sign of greatness, not just the number of banners. It's really a toss up after the Lakers and Celtics. They are by far, the two greatest teams in the entire history of the NBA, no other team can come close. But, for the hell of it, heres the rest of the list:3.76ers4.Bulls5.Pistons6.Spurs7.Blazers8.Jazz9.Suns10.Knicks
Man. Another guy forgetting the Bucks.I'm still waiting for your response on the Bucks, STS.Let me remind you of my post:<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>You just made yourself sound stupid. They have won the NBA Championship once, made the NBA Finals twice, made the ECF/WCF 8 times, had a 60+ win season 4 times, had 50+ win seasons 13 times in their 30+ year history. They definately deserve to be up there. Great players have played on their teams like Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Oscar Robertson, Sidney Moncrief, Glenn Robinson, Ray Allen, and now Michael Redd.</div>

I didn't mean to forget them, I guess I was spacing out.
OK to take the words from others, the bucks are inconsistent too. aside from the ECF run 5 or whatever years ago, what's the last big run they had? they're as inconsistent as the C's, if not more so.
the jazz anyone- if its consistancy you want. aside from the last 2 years - 20 strait in the playoffs? wthats consistant.
1-Lakers I hate admitting it, but the recent history of their success does put them over the Celtics. 2-Celtics 16 titles3-Bulls 6 tities, multiple ECF appearences4-Pistons 3 NBA titles and seven total finals appearences is pretty good.5-Houston 2 NBA titles, 6-San Antonio they go below Houston because the Rockets have yet to suck for almost a decade7-Jazz 2 NBA finals appearences 21 stright years of 500 or better, and 22 of the last 23 of 500 or better.8-Portland one title in three finals apperences, but they rank lower because in the mid 90s they would bearly make the playoffs and were eliminated 8 years in a row in the first round.9-Philadelphia in recent years they've sucked, with the except of 01. but in their past they've done great. 3 NBA titles, 8 finals apperences10-Golden State yeah they've sucked for about 14 years now. but they do have two titles, and five NBA finals apperences.
