See my reply to you. I think we're on the same page. The biggest winner in all of this is Nic Batum and Batum's agent, who somehow persuaded David Kahn to not only offer Nic a ridiculous contract, but to also waive players just to make that ridiculous offer. Ndiaye has taken a lot of heat, but he got his client a nice, fat, and overpriced contract, which was his job. Kahn just got completely worked over, and must have thought the Ndiaye talking smack about Nic refusing to go to the Blazers would make the Blazers blink. Didn't happen.

Olshey just drafted a PG from a small school with the 6th pick who is one of the best players in the Vegas Summer League. I can't wait to see Rubio try and stay in front of Lillard. Should be fun.

In terms of all-time clusterfucks for a GM, though, Kahn just entered the conversation. What was he thinking?

No, you drove up the price a bit...maybe? Not sure what other teams like Toronto, Cleveland or SA would have offered because Nic's dumbass agent didn't listen to them. But by offering him, you also missed out on players you wanted, thus the story of your owner pleading with Olshey to sign him outright.

Basically, if we match, we will be slightly over paying for a 23 year old top 10 SF, and Minnesota will have lost out on other FA's because of it

If we don't match, Minnesota will be slightly overpaying for a 23 year old top 10 PG and will have still missed out on other FA's because of it

Portland will then have a lottery pick and max money to offer next season to go with Aldridge and out two lottery picks this year

Honestly, Kahn could have offered Olshey the moon and it probably wouldn't have happened. They will find another player though. Even if they don't, the Wolves are in good shape to go into the season right now.

Are you sure? I like how he is waiting last minute to sign the offer sheet. Wouldn't be surprised if something in the kitchen is already brewing. Even if nothing happens; our GM is making it even harder for you to have any free-agents worth a shit available. Also, the summer isn't over and I expect we aren't finished.

How is our GM looking bad? By not accepting your shit packages? Or by slightly overpaying (at most) for Batum? I think for the most part, everyone assumed we would be paying Batum around 10ish million per year. I think some even said 10.5.

Your GM is the one that looks like a useless tool that cannot properly use his assets, throws players away, makes bad business decisions (as one scout put it, Olshey gained human capital by not being a prick) and gives out offers that he knows will be matched.

According to legend, only virgins can see a unicorn. So it may be pretty easy for a unicorn to hit shots in the NBA as no defenders could see them, except AC Green.

Batum's agent should have just negotiated a deal with the Blazers equal to or with a 5th year. Instead, he made the T-Wolves make moves that were unneccessary when made and just wasted everyone's time.

Then they'll need to turn around and pay an older Iggy a larger contract next summer, and Iggy will be a UFA. It's just a disaster for Minnesota at this point.

Edit - I posted RFA instead of UFA

    Why? is it

    A. he traded away two players that weren't going to be here next year for two highly sought after Euros and a 2nd round pick?

    B. Because it looks like his 6th pick is a stud PG being compared to Derrick Rose by some National media members?

    C. Because he cost Minnesota the ability to use their cap space by delaying the matching of Batum?

    D. Because he said he was goign to wait to hire a coach because anyone he wanted would still be there...an was right?

Oh my bad... I was just assuming that since T-pups fucked up; khan was involved. This goes way beyond that then. I guess ownership is just as stupid as Khan is to bat 0.00 with their GMs.

Well, I'd argue that he actually hurt a division rival of Portland's, most likely unintentionally, and I like it. Also, Nic will be heading into his next contract as a 28 year-old instead of a 29 year-old, and I'm thinking that Ndiaye and Batum both think he'll get even more money in his next contract. Also, who is to say Portland even wanted to add a 5th year?

Sure, but who's going to be able to pass the ball to Mr. Unicorn? He's going to have to steal it from his own team mates.

Uhm... sure... on another note, hopefully Rubio can recover well. (Not meant in a bad way - never would wish Oden treatment on another team - Rubio is fun to watch, as well).

Kahn is a sigh of relief after the Kevin McHale years. The Joe Smith fiasco and the Cassell/1st for Jaric handicapped the franchise for years. Kahn has actually done a good job clearing things up from that mess.

Ya, McHale is a great coach, IMO, but a lousy GM. Hey, I wonder if Komic-Kahn kan koach?

Well that's great news! But this imaginary cap space issue is even worse for Minny. It's a shitty city in terms of weather and night life. Worse than Portland (At least we have good coffee and strip clubs!). Good luck finding a free-agent yearning to travel to -20˚F weather for more money.

Maybe, but I think Kahn's days are numbered and you should welcome a change in GM if it happens. You have some nice pieces, but I don't think Kahn is the guy to get it done in Minny.

McHale has a career record of 73-87 and has yet to coach a playoff game.

That sets the "great" bar very low. Nate McMillan should be in the Hall of Fame, comparatively.
