This response gave me a deja vu feeling. Then I looked a few posts earlier and indeed, we've been here before. Carry on.
Sad that our franchise's main goal is to not pay luxury tax, and they are even seemingly ineffective in ensuring that. They can market Kirk and the higher ups love him. They have to do something this off-season, right? Kirk will be an announcer or assistant coach down the road. The higher ups want him with the franchise. They felt terrible about having to let him go to begin with. Perhaps they are willing to even pay a little tax if possible, worst case. There is still time to salary dump some more. Don't worry.
Poor k4e. Things were looking so good there for a while. Really, as long as Derrick comes back, they still look pretty good. We overpayed for a good bench because we couldn't get LJ, DW or JJ for our shooting guard/SF hole. Given our contracts and Derrick's injury, that just won't work. Long term, our target has to be a real solution at SG. Kirk isn't it, Marco isn't it, but Ronnie and Kyle weren't it either, and were costing a pretty penny, to boot. Can they get it done? Maybe not. I was hopeful that Kyle, Ronnie and Rip would have been enough to make it this past year, but with Derrick out for a year, time to reload.
