It's on Root now. Portland already down 1-0 15 minutes into the game.

    They're just bad.

Should have fired Wilkinson instead. He's the one spending tons of money on a striker who is one of the slowest guys on the team, if not the league.

Boyd was a step too slow on two nice passes right after I posted how slow he is.

It's tough to score when your only hope is an unintentional deflection off of somebody's leg.

Spencer was a great person/ great quote.. but the dude was not ready for a head coach gig. Wilkinson def needs to go too, and I hope he does after this year. His teams were inconsistent in USL, I see no reason it will be any different.

Our midfield is atrocious. How Boyd has 7 goals this year with their garbage service is beyond me. Jewsbury aka Captain Invisible, is the current Steve Blake to John Spencer/GW's McMillain. Nagbe hasnt progressed this year. Kalif is inconsistent as ever. Songo'o fades in and out. Has a great game then gets hurt. Alexander is a decent Center Mid but for some fracking reason both Coaches we've had insist on playing him on the wing. Chara is a wonderful Defensive Mid, but he's not the answer to linking, attacking play down the center of the pitch.

Steven Smith is quite inconsistent as well at LB. At first he looked really good, but I'm wondering if that was cause we were comparing him to Chabala. I only saw the first half today, and he was awful on that goal. Robbie Earle seemed to go after Futty on that one, but Smith def left his teammates out to dry on that one. Kimura I'll give him a pass for now (still trying to gel), decent attacking fullback, plays with effort and heart, but has been caught out of position a few times since he has been here.

The following players are not to blame for the crappy season.

    Perkins
    Boyd
    Mosquera
    Chara

Why did Wilkinson change the lineup format? Can it work for the next game?

Now with the MLS superdraft coming up, will this even help the team? I doubt it. I think the team needs another overhaul at the midfield position.

The team needs an overhaul in several positions from what I can tell. They really only have a few good players. I think it's a reflection of Paulsen's cheap payroll.

There def needs an overhaul. Starting with GW of course. IMO the players' categories are as follows.

Need to Stay - Absolutely Vital to our Success
Troy Perkins - Needs to be captain
Kris Boyd - Dude doesnt have to be the fastest, you win by scoring goals, when he gets good service, he scores at an incredible rate. True Poaching goalscorer.
Hanyer Mosquera - Plays with a set of cojones like Chara does... but isnt 5-7 (generous) and 140 lbs like Diego.
Diego Chará - An absolute pain in the ass for other teams to play against. Will break up tons of plays in the middle of the pitch, will foul you, will be an annoying gnat for opposition.

I Want to include you as a big part in the future, but next year is a make or break year
Eric Brunner (Love the dude, he is fearless, but I wonder if concussions will do him in)
Darlington Nagbe, all the talent in the world, can he put it all together consistently?
Franck Songo'o - Boatloads of talent. Has to stay healthy long enough to consistently be a beast. Sometimes seems to rest on his laurels, that he grew up in the Barcelona system.
Kalif Alhassan - The best player on the pitch one night, then causes much rage 3 nights in a row.
Eric Alexander - This one is unfair to him IMO because he is a very good player, who has been used very poorly. Given time at Center Mid, and he possibly could be borderline vital/great depth and most of the time starter.

You Can Stay, You provide good depth, But You are not a full time Starter
    Mike FucitoSal Zizzo
    David Horst
    Mamadou Danso (Futty)
Rodney Wallace - Maddingly inconsistent as a starting LB. decemt Left Winger. Tons of speed, and good crossing ability. And since has some LB in him, plays a little bit of Defense in the midfield. Might make too much money against the cap for a Bench Player/Spot Starter
Andrew Jean-Baptiste not a full time starter yet, give this kid some seasoning, and he will be a MONSTER CB to pair with Mosquera
Jake Gleeson another talented keeper, will do well to serve as understudy to Perkins, hopefully can spend more time with the team next year.

You can stay but I would be indifferent to you leaving
Jack Jewsbury - I want to you him in Depth but not full time starter, but I fear as long as he is here, he will be a crutch for some reason. Jack Jewsbury is not a starter on a good team.
Steven Smith You can stay as a backup, but you have not shown yourself to be a starting quality LB
Mike Chabala You can stay as a backup, if Steven Smith is gone
Bright Dike - this one hurts me. I want him to stay, I love his bowling ball, bull in a china shop style of play. for Nostalgic purposes I love the dude too. Emotionally I would be more than indifferent if he was gone, but I would understand why.
Joe Bendik - Will be #3 keeper when Gleeson is finally back with the team full time.
    Steve Purdy
    Chris Taylor
    Freddie Braun

    Please Just Leave
    Lovel Palmer

    Incomplete
Danny Mwanga - Has looked good, but needs time, and to show it consistently.
Kosuke Kimura - I like your heart and your attacking skills, I will give you time.
Brent Richards - Give this kid some time please!
Ryan Kawulok - I'm pretty high on this kid, good attacking skills, a victim of the Jewsbury crutch at RB before Kimura got here.
José Adolfo Valencia - Another kid with great talent, we'll see what he looks like when healthy.
Sebastián Rincón - Very Young, Very Raw, alot of talent in his big toe.
Charles Renken - Another very young very talented player. Had some ACL problems, so hopefully they can hold up, but he is a CAM which this team lacks.

Timbers shatting on themselves again in Dallas.

Next year will be interesting. I'm already able to get multiple tickets at less than Face Value later this month for my youngest daughter's soccer team. 35 tickets at $18/each, plus sitting on the field for the girls during warm-ups.

Not every MLS team loses to a club team from CA while playing their starters, either.
