Im tired of injury after injury plaguing the Blazers and hearing that medina wants Meyers to add 20lbs pisses me off. We can't know that the staff is at fault for any of these injuries, but they certainly aren't preventing them.

PA and Oshley need to get a new medical staff and trainers in here before Lillard and Meyers are defunct or before batum or Aldridge break completely.

The key is drafting guys without too many red flags.

Too tired to look through all the threads, where is the link quoting Medina that says he wants to add 20 lbs to Leonard? Is that before the start of the season? or just 20 lbs in general?

It's worse than that. Medina said that Leonard should add 20 lbs of beer belly.

Adding 20 pounds of muscle to his frame will not increase his risk of injury. Muscle actually helps prevent injury, and 20 pounds spread over a guy with his frame probably won't slow him down much.

Maybe Oden was injured due to something unrelated to the staff in Portland or his weight.

Wait, fans on message boards know the real reason Oden got hurt. Maybe Brandon's knee issue was just weight and Bobby Medina!!

My only gripe with Medina (who was quoted by Chris Haynes in a tweet) is that he wants Leonard to put on 20 before camp. Meyers should definitely want to get stronger and needs to get stronger, but 20 lbs of muscle would be a pretty amazing feat in 3 months.

Who knows, maybe Haynes took his words out of context?

Leonard should easily be able to add 20 lbs to his frame

Actually I'm surprised we haven't cleaned house with regard to our medical staff yet. It doesn't matter if they were culpable for any of the injuries or not. Sometimes perception is reality and they are not perceived well around the country.

Injuries or not, recent Blazers teams have not been exactly the most athletic in memory. They've been slow, plodding, weak, and clumsy.

Unless it's 10lbs on each leg it will absolutely put more wear and tear on his lower extremities.

It's the bane of all big men.

Walton, Sabas, Oden...all suffered foot or knee injuries when they gained weight.

actually, Walton suffered ankle injuries because of a genetic issue, Sabas blew out his knee when he was skinny as a rail, and Oden suffered his knee injuries because of a genetic issue (shorter leg) and over compensating for one leg.

But yeah, it's because they "gained weight".

exactly. Walton had extensive problems with his feet dating back to childhood. Sabas fell down a flight of stairs while drunk and then suffered a botched surgery where he developed an infection. Greg was at his college weight when he suffered his first knee injury.

I don't see anything concerning about someone with that big of frame eventually weighing 270. Just to throw out the predraft height/weight stuff for a couple of famous guys... Tim Duncan 6'11 barefoot 250 pounds, Shaq 7'1 barefoot and 303 pounds. Meyers came in 6'11.75 & 249

I would clean house simply for being thorough. New GM, new coach, new President....... clean. house. Too many bad memories and bad voodoo. Shit, I'd tear down the building and put up a new corporate office too. Start fresh I say!
