"When the Bears officially kick off training camp in Bourbonnais next Thursday, their offensive line will draw the proverbial bull's-eye. Center Roberto Garza doesn't expect anything less. ''That's every year,'' he said. ''Obviously, we have to get better. We know that. But we know we have the right guys, and we have great coaches, and we're working on our technique. It's up to us to be ready.'' The transition from perennial Pro Bowl center Olin Kreutz — who started 183 games for the Bears — couldn't have gone much smoother. In many ways, Kreutz groomed Garza for the position and leadership role. Garza performed well on the field and he thrived as a captain, a distinction he carried through an offseason that didn't — as many had hoped and expected — include an overhaul of his unit. At one point, even quarterback Jay Cutler acknowledged the offensive line was ''definitely going to be a concern.'' ''We need to perform," Garza said of his group. ''We know the burden's on us, but that's the way it is every year. We're ready for the challenge and looking forward to it.''
