Nay, it means watching all the Blazer games you can and seeing which Blazers (or former Blazers) you may be able to obtain. Gramps...
The seconds, the Greeks, an assortment of players that are basically end of bench guys - can't even remember the name of the new point guard, that's how impressive he is!
Ronnie price is the name you are thinking. He is a scrub, but a scrub on a short contract that is a workout buddy with Lillard
Yeah.... except they had Rudy's jersey on sale for a coffee can of dirt for a full season while he was here.
Half our roster is going to be of no help at all, so I certainly hope there's a very good player in their sights.
What the hell are the "pieces" or assets people say Olshey is collecting? I just see a ton of pieces of junk. A protected 2nd round pick? The player taken with the 46th pick in the same draft we gave away the 41st? Outside of LaMarcus, Lillard, and maybe Leonard I don't think any pick or player this franchise has could get much of anything in return on a trade. The Timberwolves will never be eligible to trade for Nic and I don't think any other team values him above the cost of his contract. When we had Outlaw, Telfair, Webster as our young assets fans overvalued them because the roster was so void of talent. Fans start seeing talent and value where there is none. Now I think our current roster is well ahead of the curve of those dark years, but I think fans are doing the same thing in overvaluing mediocre assets this team currently has just because there are so few quality pieces here right now. Look at teams like Boston with Green, Sullinger, Lee, Terry, Worten all on their bench. I don’t know if we have a single bench player that talented. Or even terrible teams like Charlotte or the Cavs, they have many talented young lottery picks, multiple future first round picks and more potential future cap space.
Assets Freeland Claver Matthews Smith Babbitt Williams Barton Hickson Three 2nd round picks One highly touted Greek One sorta kinda touted Greek 3.5 TPE from Felton We have assets to deal
A good GM will have pieces available for any sort of trades if they are presented to them. I think our GM is positioning himself for that option. Will he make a deal? I'm not quite sure, but I suspect he will position himself to have that option if it presents itself to him.
I would say we're targeting someone like Iggy, but I don't think we have the assets that would match up the numbers.
I think the only deal they could/might do at the deadline is to move WES and his contract, but that happens only IF Ewill shows he can do the job as well or better and stay healthy, and that the new guy we drafted is a solid backup.
I think we could get to the numbers with Matthews, Freeland and Babbitt maybe one more filler, but we don't have the draft pick assets yet to pull that off. Next season we will have around 5.7 million to play with? Plus more than likely a high lottery pick. He might just sit on things until then and either make a lopsided trade including our lottery pick, or use that lottery pick and make a lopsided trade using an reasonable contract going out for a bad one coming in
