This is how I see it: Dame/ Nolan/ Price Wes/ EWill/ Pavlovic Nic/ Vic/ Babs LA/ Freeland Hickson/ Leonard/ Jeffries Doesn't look that bad, tbh.
Actually, I'd trade Babs for a future 2nd rounder if any team wants him. Clear up room for Will that way. Luke will be out of the league soon anyway.
The problem is that Nolan Smith isn't a point guard. I think he's proven that he's a combo guard that is better suited at scoring. I think the starters will be Lil Matthews Batum Aldridge Hickson with these guys off the bench Freeland Claver Smith EWill I don't see Jeffries, Babbitt, or Pavlovic getting any time. I'm hoping they find some minutes for Barton though.
Guessing you forgot Leonard. I want him playing at least 25mpg and using all 6 of his fouls this year. Even if it comes at the cost of wins. The development of these guys is more important this year.
Yeah, I forgot him....it's early.... I think Freeland and Leonard will be the backup four/five. It will be interesting to see how the minutes at guard shake out though. Will EWill be healthy by camp? I think Nolan has earned some minutes at the two just to see if he can play that position. I also think it will be interesting to see Barton and Claver battle it out for the backup minutes at small forward. Outside of Lillard, Nic, and Aldridge, I think there are a lot of spots up for grabs on this team.
Minues are more important to me. A lot of these guys are interchangable Lillard 34 Matthews 25 Batum 35 Aldridge 35 Hickson 28 Smith 12 Williams 16 Claver 12 Freeland 14 Leonard 20 That leaves 9 minutes for Barton, or whoever
Ya. My reasons are Price is pretty horrible Smith isn't very good either, but young and showed a lot in SL This team needs to see which young guys can actually play
If you are talking an actual 10 man rotation, based on the current roster I would guess this: Dame /Nolan (I think Nolan will beat out Price) Wes/ EWill/ (Barton will not get into the rotation unless there are injuries) Nic/ Vic/ Wes (Babbitt will again be buried on the bench) LA/ Hickson/Vic Freeland/ Leonard/ LA
In a perfect world of course, we would run a 9 man rotation, but this isn't a perfect world, and we need to see if any of these guys can actually play. As long as there are no units
I think for the regular season 10 is fine. If you want to get down to 9 I think it would vary who got left out from game to game depending on the match-up. I can see Victor being left out of some games while Wes got all the back up minutes at the SF.
I don't think we really know with Smith just yet. The backup PG situation is not great right now, but let's see how Smith progresses this year. They may have to have a backup plan if neither Smith or Price can handle backup PG duties, like giving Batum an opportunity to initiate the half-court offense? It's probably going to be another season in the lottery, and the new coach should have a long leash right now. I wouldn't be opposed to trying to experiment with this at times if Smith and Price are underwhelming.
