In time, perhaps. We have our future starting PG/SF/PF/C. We lack a SG of equal quality. If Claver were to pan out (I'm not holding my breath) at SF, Batum at SG might work.
How did he look today? He isn't mentioned in any of the recaps I've seen and I haven't found a boxscore.
LeBron James absolutely abused him, but LBJ abuses most skinny 3/4 tweeners, as well as most of the NBA, regardless of position.
Unfortunately the Australia games haven't been on TV here (although all the US games have been on ESPN, go figure). The Australia games have been streamed on the Internet, but have all been on in the early hours of the morning, or when I'm at work. So I haven't been able to watch them, and have and to rely on reports, and boxscores. It's like the 90's again. From the few games I saw Patty play in Australia he has definitely improved since going to the Spurs. The big thing I noticed was his improvement in his mid range game. Still needs to improve his control to finish at the rim more consistently. Patty is still gunning, but that's his role on this team. We look to be establishing him early, then going away from him; possibly using him as a decoy. Apart from early in games he's playing a lot of 2, and Dellavedova is playing the 1.
I taped the game and just got done watching it. That was my impression as well. If I had to choose one or the other, Claver looks more like a 3. The fact that we are a little deeper at the 4 than the 3 also makes me believe he will play SF. But overall he moves well. They had him matched up with Durant a few times and size wise they looked the same. (Hoopshype.com actually has theirs height and weight listed the same as well) He seems to have decent handles too.
JEFF TAYLOR @JeffreyNTaylor Most satisfying for me to see in Tuesday's Spain/USA game was play of Victor Claver. His confidence sky high with NBA rookie year coming up
That would be pretty nice to have a capable backup behind Nicolas. If this kid can play I'm guessing Babs should probably travel with some extra luggage.
Depends on how poor we are talking I will say I am a lot more confident with our SF position than I was a few weeks ago. And actually SG as well because if there are any injuries the Blazers have both Nic and Wes that can slide over and play both.
