Detroit Tigers Acquire Jeff Baker from the Chicago Cubs

Today the Detroit Tigers made another move, aqcuring the Jeff Baker from the Chicago Cubs for two players to be named later.

Baker, who is 31, hit .269/.306/.448 with four home runs and 20 RBIs with the Cubs this season. Baker has a .275 average against left handed pitching this year, and is a career .304 hitter against left handers. The Tigers were looking for another right handed bat that hit lefties, and Baker would fit the bill.

Baker could also act as Ryan Raburn’s replacement. Raburn, who has had trouble hitting anything this year, just went on the 15-day DL for a thumb injury. Raburn could very well be the player who gets cut once he’s off the DL to make room for Baker on the Tigers’ roster.
