Detroit Tigers Win Their Sixth Straight Game

The Detroit Tigers won their sixth straight game on Tuesday night. With a 6-5 victory over the New York Yankees. The Tigers climbed to a season high 10 games over the .500 mark at 60-50, still 1.5 games behind the White Sox.

Rick Porcello pitched for the Tigers on Tuesday. Porcello was coming off a strong start against the Red Sox when he went six innings and gave up one earned run. It would be the same story against the Yankees. Porcello went 6 2/3 innings and surrendered three earned runs and eight hits, while striking out three Yankees on Tuesday.

The only time the Yankees mounted any offense of the 23-year-old sinker baller was in the fourth inning when Eric Chavez hit a two out, two run homer that put the Yankees temporary ahead. An Ichiro double that would score Nick Swisher in the seventh would be the last time the Yankees scored off Porcello.
