<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Toronto Star - Doug Smith of the Toronto Star is stating that Darrick Martin will be re-signed by the Raptors a week or so before training camp. Martin took on a player/assistant coach role with the team last year and served as a mentor to some of the team's younger players.</div>He probably wont make the 12 man rotation. He is an okay option for leadership, and if someone gets injured. He isnt too quick anymore, and his pg skills havnt impressed me. But he is still an okay shooter at times.

Oh wow, I thought this guy was a goner.Yeah your right. He wont be able to make the rotation, but he'll still be able to mentor. Not to mention that he's also a class act [IMG]

This ranks up there with one of the worst signings. I don't see this help Toronto at all.

Its not really suppose to help Toronto on the court as much as it suppose to help off the court. Last season Martin barely got playing time but was a great addition in terms of helping develop our younger players. Now with a roster stacked with a ton of depth dont think that he will have much to any playing time, hes just there because of what he brings to the ball club in the locker room.

He's basically what Mavs did last year with Darrell Armstrong. Cheap contract, to be a lockeroom leader/mentor for the young pgs and occassionally give them some time during the season. Worst signing my ass.

How is it a bad signing? I dont imagine we will pay him even 1 mil a year. He is here as sort of a player-coach, and insurance in case someone goes down at pg.

Not exactly sure. I think it is somewhere around the 1 million range.

Basically, he just provides them with depth at PG. Doesn't really bring a whole lot.
