Vacationing in Hong Kong and decided to tune in to a game from the local pro league and was surprised to see Fred Jones playing for a local team. He's fat and super out of shape but he's still jacking up three's like it's cool. Also saw ex-Pacer David Harrison.
Damn. Those are two names I haven't heard in forever. I guess once you take away Jones' athleticism, that'll put him in a Chinese league. Harrison is another one of those guys that you always heard didn't have the drive and work ethic to make it in the NBA. I wonder what those Chinese players make. I was checking out the Euroleague contracts during the Olympics, and it seems like in Europe, if you're one of their top level players, you could make 1-4 mill a year, but that's only the elite guys. Otherwise, you're looking at 100-500k, tops. Still an amazing living for playing basketball, but not so much so if you consider taxes, agents, and the inevitable entourage of "managers" and "assistants" that have been hanging on since high school. That 250k quickly becomes a teacher's salary with no pension.
