Texas Rangers catcher Mike Napoli was placed on the disabled list with a strained left quad muscle prior to Saturday's game with the Detroit Tigers. Triple-A catcher Luis Martinez was called up in his place. Napoli, who felt the quad tighten during the last homestand, didn't play the final two games in Boston earlier this week to give it some time to rest. He was back in the lineup on Friday, but is now on the disabled list, which will hopefully give it time to heal. The first day he is eligible to return is Aug. 26.
