My cousin just got a new Jeep and on his way home, he lives out in the boonies, he was getting ready to turn onto his property from the highway and a 17 y/o girl plowed through his new jeep from behind going 65 MPH. They're both ok but the girl was TEXTING AND DRIVING and it could have been a lot worse.
I have realized the texters in traffic give me an opening to cut them off and take their spot in a faster moving lane.
I know it's not legal, but is it bad to text when completely stopped? I just put it down right when I start to go..
is it annoying when you're stuck behind someone for a few seconds when it turns green? Do you ever impulsively start to go when you see the light, without really noticing the car in front of you taking off their breaks? my answer, yes, but there are worse things.
Very true! Also, the Jeeps airbags failed to deploy. His hand broke as it went through the steering wheel. I've never dealt with a situation like this and hope I never do but I would press charges against the girl.
My family had a similar experience, although way before texting. My dad just bought a new car and took us all for a ride. Some dingbat whom I knew from school, we are talking major airhead, made a left turn on a red light and broadsided us. Then she kept right on going. My dad thought she was going to hit and run so took off after her. She thought better, but instead of signaling and pulling over, she slammed hard on the brakes in the middle of the street. The car behind her had to screech to a stop, two guys on a motorcycle behind that car were not so lucky. They rearended the second car, the bike capsized and both boys had broken legs. Then Miss Airhead gets out of her car and said well really everyone was at fault. The woman driving the second car suggested she just shut the blank up. And for the next year (until I mercifully finished hs and got the blank out of that town) whenever I saw Miss Airhead, which was frequent, she refused to speak to me! I was not crushed.
