The Bulls have finalized a contract with first round draft pick Marquis Teague. "It feels good to finally get it out of the way," Teague said. "I just want to get in the gym and start working out." Teague agreed to a slotted salary of $857,000 in his first season and is expected to earn 120 percent of the slotted rate in the following years. The idea that all 1st-rounders should be treated equally...an automatic 120% of the rookie scale doesn't make much sense to me. A NBA-ready rookie may be worth the 120%, but the top of the range shouldn't be a given for a player that you may want to send to the D-League. I applaud Teague for accepting his "haircut" with nary a complaint.
