And he should make a major impact in the NBA.</div>In Anthony Parker's 3 seasons in the NBA, his high in points was 3.4 ppg, 0.6 apg and 1.6 rpg. That was when he was younger. Now, it has been 6 more years, and im SURE that he has lost athleticism and lost speed. The Euro leagues dont mean anything. Just look what he did when he was younger. He was garbage. You just dont miraculously get alot better. It just doesnt happen.

The Best Euro player only averaged 15 ponts a game?? Do they play like 6 minute quarters over there or something?
Yes, but he went over to Europe, and slowly he has built his ranks. That was a long time ago. He is a much better player now.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (TheOkie @ Aug 3 2006, 09:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>The Best Euro player only averaged 15 ponts a game?? The Raptors didnt really sign Garbajosa to be the source of their points, he is a scrapy player who will fight for loose balls and do all the dirty work, if he can translate his hustle into the Raptors then he has done his job. I expect him to be the 3rd guy coming off the bench. We definitly have a way better team this year then last and its a completely new roster, so whos to say they wont play like a contendor or a low lottery pick? As of now its in the air but I think the teams better off with a PG who knows what his role on the team is and that is running the floor and distributing the ball to his teamates instead of someone who wants to put up big numbers so he can get a fat paycheque by the end of the season. Villanueva was a loss yes but everything comes at a cost, and the Raptors got young talent in return. Nesterovic may not be the centre raptors fans have been waiting for but he is a legit center who will grab rebounds! Any thing is better then starting Hoffa at the 5!!Look who came off the bench last season for the Raptors, Matt Bonner, Pape Sow, Jose Calderon, CV (first half of the season), derrick martin and now we have alot more depth and options so I think the Raptors will be able to hold their own this season and wont be the laughing stock of the NBA.

Based on what he has done overseas.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (ArizonaFan @ Aug 3 2006, 09:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Wow, really? Then I dont know what to tell you.
Ur still not giving me anything except ur word. I could say "insert random name here" went over seas and really stepped up his game, now the Hornets are contenders. But does that really mean he stepped up his game. Is someone who averaged 15 points a game in Europe going to vault Tronto into the playoff hunt... no. Is a bunch of Euro stiffs going to vault the Raptros into the playoff hunt.... no

If you have seen ANY of him at all, you have probably seen one. You are just saying that based on statistics. Which are very misleading for Euro ball. I will admit, those are good stats for euro ball but that doesnt mean he will be good in the pro's.

The Raptors have alot of potential no doubt about that, they could or could not make the playoffs this season but you cant downsize their European players because none of you really saw them play so how can you say negative things? It's just a matter of time before the season starts and we see for ourselves how everythning falls into place.

Chris Bosh, TJ Ford, Mo Pete, Fred Jones, and our supporting cast will pull us into the playoff race.

Show me one.I agree with you in the fact that he wont be sh*t in the NBA but those are good Euro ball numbers. But thats it. That doesnt mean that he will do anything in the NBA.
Off the top of my head Speedy Claxton had like 13 and 6 assists last year coming off the bench, obviously non PGs are gonna get more points and more rebounds
CB4, where do you think the Raptors will land this year? Be real, don't say they will land in the playoffs, although I do think Bosh will lead them to it sometime in his career with the Raptors I seriousely doubt it will be this year. Where should the Raptors be CB4?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (TheOkie @ Aug 3 2006, 08:32 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>How can u say postive things about them either?</div>yeah I know you cant unless you have seen them play for yourself, Garbajosa will bring hustle and toughness to the table so I cant see how he wont be able to translate that into the NBA, it just doesnt disapear. Yes Parker was 2 time MVP overseas, do you honestly think there is that big of a drop off between talent now from the NBA and Euro? Every year there is more and more international flavour coming over to the NBA and America no longer dominates basketball like they used too, tough. Anyways they could be busts, even if they do suck the Raptors season is not gonna go up into flames they have alot of options to fall back on so there wouldnt be a sense of emergency when/if Parker and Garbajosa do fail.
Yes i do think there is a drop off in Euro talent than NBA. Thats why when players cant make it in the NBA, they go over there, and why the best players in Europe come to the NBA and most of them end up never getting off the bench
ah enough about the Raptors...my pick is they'll finish somewhere in the low 20s at the end of the season or high teens.I think the Jazz are ranked too high and the T-Wolves too low, unless AK47 and Boozer stay healthy which I highly doubt (just look at their track record) then they will miss the playoffs again and drop in terms of ranking. The T-Wolves have potential to make alot of noise, with arguably one of the best players in the game KG and a supporting cast of Davis, Foye, and James so I think they'll definitley improve on last years train wreck of a season.
