That is the reasoning. They are an extremely young team with little veteran leadership (Morris maybe). Those teams tend to go through growing pains.

Thats why when players cant make it in the NBA, they go over there, and why the best players in Europe come to the NBA and most of them end up never getting off the bench</div>Yea theres obviously a drop off but I gues the point I was trying to make is that the gap is getting smaller and smaller as NBA franchises are looking overseas for talent more now then they had ever. Dont expect this Euro invasion to come to an end as the rest of the world is catching up to the Americans.

Let's say he DOES average 15PPG and 7RPG....that just about fills the void of Charlie Villanueva (which I HIGHLY doubt he will actually do in his rookie season, and Charlie will likely be better this year). TJ Ford doesn't fill the void of Mike James, and after that Raptors got no one that could thrust them into playoff contender right away.

It doesnt even matter though, statistics that a player would get overseas are different than a player would get in the NBA. The competition just isnt as high.
Not true. Bargnani only had 11 ppg over there. That is about equal to what I expect him to get this year..

Thats because there are 20 times more players in the NBA coming from America<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (GArenas @ Aug 3 2006, 08:03 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Thats why we see Pau Gasol becoming an all-star, Dirk dominating the PF position, Bargani going first pick this year (however that could be a bust), Tony Parker dominating the paint and bringing lots to the spurs team, not to mention many others. Earlier, you say that 15 PPG in Euro was some of the best and look what the best is in the NBA. It is more than double that. I am saying that Euro scoring is different that NBA scoring. It doesnt equal out to the same. They are playing at an easier level. I want you to tell me how many minutes Parker played a game and then tell me if he could average 15 minutes in the pros at that same level of mpg.

TheOkie, there is the same or a higher ratio of stars in Europe and stars in the USA, there are many other good european players however i'm not about to go through and make a list, btw I hope you know Mos that Canada is not overseas and we're talking about Europe, not Asia.
I'm not talking about guys who came from all over the world. I'm talking about how overrated the European league players are.Guys like Sarunas Jasikevicius of the Pacers and Arvydas Macijauskas of the Hornets are two of the most recent Euro players to try to make it in the NBA, and they coulndt. Dont get me wrong, im not hating on all Euro players. Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavs have been one of my favorite teams for a long time, and for a while they practically only had international players. I'm just saying that the guys who are known as "the best players in Europe" usually have little or no success in the NBA.

Because there are more stars in the NBA who are American, in a league that there are many more American players than other nationality players? In America players have a much easier time getting into the league than Europeans do, with the publicity of the future superstars (Greg Oden is a perfect example), Scouts, and the League's eyes on the NCAA. Sure there are going to be some busts, but it's not like there aren't busts in the USA.
yeah I know but you could say that Nash is overseas as he is originally from South Africa, dont ask me I dunno how...anyways I was just saying on a larger scale that the rest of the world is catching up to America in producing NBA talent. I seriously dont see the league being American dominant in a couple of years as it is now.
