<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (MosDefinitely @ Aug 3 2006, 08:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>If your gonna put it that way we can say Rasho is going to replace Hoffa, Garbajosa replacing Sow, Jones replacing Calderon, Bargnani replacing Eric Williams, Humphries replacing Bonner...its simply not playing the name game. Why would you want someone to fill the void of a selfish PG who was looking for a big payday and nothing more?</div>Charlie is a big void that Bargnani is gonna be expected to fill in his rookie season....I honestly don't feel he will be able to do it this year (and the power ranking is referring to the here and now, not 3-4 years down the road). Because he averaged 20PPG on 47% shooting (44% 3pt shooting too) to go along with 6APG. He may be a scoring point guard ala Chauncey Billups, but he is still a very good player. He also is a good defender as well. TJ Ford is more of your typical PG, but he still isn't as good of a player as James is.That leaves Rasho and Jones to truly make them a playoff teamRasho definately won't do it as he is an average big man, and Fred has potential but don't expect him, Ford and Rasho to make up the 35PPG, defense and overall quality play of Charlie and James. And even if they do, that leaves them about right where they were at last year.

Like I already said, im not bashign on international players. This all started when someone said that the Raptors got a guy getting 15 and 7 in Europe, and along with two other Euro guys coming in that the Raps are gonna reach the playoffs.I was just trying to point out that very rarely to European League Stars ever make it in the NBA

Nitro-We don't need a big scorer like Mike James anyway. We already have one of the best offenses in the League. I would rather have a playmaker at pg who will give you 14 then a ball hog who will jurt the team by hogging the ball but will score 20. Just my opinion. TJ will do a much better job at running the offense and feeding Bosh the ball when we start to run. He is also a great fit to be the nucleus of a running offense because of his passing ability and quickness.

I see where your getting at Nitro that the loss of CV and James was huge but the Raptors added some like 9 new faces to the franchise so surly someone can pick up the slack of the two departed players. And true these rankings are still reflective of this upcoming season but I still think they took the easy root by claiming that the Raptors are going to suck because of their previous 4 seasons.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (TheOkie @ Aug 3 2006, 09:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Like I already said, im not bashign on international players. The only rare case I could think of are Sabonis he was solid in europe and solid in the NBA.Im pooped for today....lets just wait for the playing to speak for itself

I agree if they change the offense he could be a better fit, but defensively and scoring wise, Mike James was automatic. When you face a great interior defense like the Pistons (even without Ben) you're gonna need a great outside scorer to open some things up for Bosh and to hit open shots. James could do that, but I'm not so sure about Ford.

The NBA is becoming more and more international and you're going to realize that the reason some of the Europeans don't score as much is because they play differently. Also TheOkie bashing Europeans is exactly what you're doing, you're saying they're not as good as American players. I've gone over it that there are less Europeans in the league not to mention the harder time they have to make it. Bargani will have a prescence in the league, so will Adam Morrison. You will wait and see.

He should fit in great into our new offense.

what i don't get is that the Sonics can have the worst offseason possible and still be ahead of my Cs.and the hawks are way too low, i think they'll be atleast a 35 win team next year.

Even so, his scoring and defense will be missed on Raptors, and Charlie will also be missed a lot this year as there is no one who can really fill that void. I doubt Rasho will, and doubt Brgnarni will do much this year. That leaves them right where they were last year, MAYBE slightly better, but not a playoff team.

Dude, I dont know why you like Charlie so much, but he only scored 13 ppg for us. I'm sure Bargnani can average close to that, and if you add another one of our new guys then there, we're over that figure. Charlie wont be hard to replace, especially since he didn't fit in at any position. As for Mike James, if you watched any Raptor games at all, you would know that he was a complete ball hog in late game situations, and definately not a pass-first pg throughout the game. And I dont know why you think we will only be slightly better, because we have improved a ton. First of all, we didn't even have a backup 2 guard last year after we traded Jalen. Now we have 3 guys who can play the 2. Also, our young guys are improving, we now have a pass-first pg, and Bosh is a year more experienced :happy0144:

Charlie was the 2nd best rookie from last year, thats probably why he likes him.Oh and can anyone tell me when Tony Parker played in the Euro leagues?

First of all, Charlie will be hard to replace, he provided a ton for the team, even otuside of the stats. We will ahve to see with Bargnani, but I don't expect over 8-10PPG.As I acknowledged more than once, I know he is not a pass first PG, but he still ahs one of the best 3pt shots out there, good FG %, tons of points, decent playmaker, and the team will miss that. If they change offense to Suns style, then Ford will be better, but for time being I think Mike will be a big loss. All of that is fine and dandy, but the team isn't much better. They lost huge scorer and decent playmaker and defender in James who they don't have a replacement for in terms of outside scoring, Charlie will be a big void that Andrea won't fill this year, and after that Rasho and Fred are the players they are gonan rely on to make them such a better team (yes Bosh will get better, but the new additions are who is gonna need to be grea tto make them playoff team).

Scratch Tony Parker off and add Anthony Parker. He did play for the Euro leage and is doing a fine job here in the NBA. Also do you actually think that Villanueve is last year's second best rookie? Chris Paul, is a future superstar PG, and has been leading the Hornets to near the playoffs this year. Andrew Bogut, has been getting 7 boards per night and 9 points where he's been playing behind Jamaal Magloire on a team with more than just Bosh and Mike to resort to everynight. Not to mention Raymond Felton who's another breakout star this year, he may be in the top rookies of last year range however 2nd best is a bit too high.

Villanueva wont be a big void to fill at all. Even if Bargnani only gets like 9 ppg, insert say, Anthony Parker and there, the figure is much higher than Charlie's 13. I dont see the big deal here. Other players, and new acquisitions will pick up more than the slack.I know that, but we are already a great offensive team, and he is a detriment to our chemistry, and our other players by hogging the ball sometimes. That's why I think we are better off with a guy who will set people up, run the offense, and involve all our players, and still score like 15.Dude, Mike James is not that great of a defender. He is average. We added Fred Jones, who > Mike James at defense anyway.

In the summer league games, Bargnani showed that he was tentative to go inside. He showed that he was fine with just midrange to outisde jump shots. For a 7 foot basketball player, you need to have an inside game. In order for him to develope an inside game, he is going to have to bulk up. In the euro leagues, the reason his low post moves seemed so good was because he was going against shorter guys. Now that he is at a higher level of competition, he is going to have to find another way to score on the inside. And the only way to do that IMO is if he bulks up. All we are saying is that Charlie his rookie season is going to be better than Bargnani this year
