Some months ago UFC bantamweight and former WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Torres tweeted a joke from a television show that went something like "if rape vans were called surprise vans women get in them because everyone likes surprises". The UFC fired him outright. Fast forward a few weeks and a lot of fans complaining and the UFC brought (an apologetic) Torres back. (At around the same time Forrest Griffin made a rape joke on twitter saying "rape is the new missionary" but the UFC let it slide because it was more of a social commentary than an attempt at vulgar humour. Griffin also agreed to volunteer time at a women's shelter/counselling facility as penance). Fast forward until this past week to Torres' twitter account and you'll find that he made another rape-related joke, this time tweeting "they should never say 'stop, no, and don't.' What you should hear is 'no don't stop'." And now he's fired for good (as evidenced by him taking a fight with another promotion). I guess with the avalanche of bad press that buried Daniel Tosh recently following a quote-unquote rape joke (it wasn't) the UFC just wanted to wash it's hands with Torres.
