Couple thoughts.... Kyle Long in about a month will give Mariota a ton of new found protection.... this kid is a freakish animal of O Line nightmares.... Look for Brown and Colt to wear out defenses at the TE position..... these guys are a load to bring down..... I also expect AA to get better in a hurry and by USC, he'll be pushing Barkley's Oline right into him....

I can't wait to see how we do against better teams. I think we have a very good shot at the Natty, barring a ton of injuries.

A young QB and 5 soup cans to start couldn't be better.... By USC Marcus will have his own groove and something tells me Marshall and Addison will be big time threats to go along with DAT, Barner and Kelly.....

The Duck's running game, so long as they stay healthy, will just be unstoppable. But any team can prepare to stop the run and disrespect the pass.

Mariota will evolve into a phenomenal passer and can torch secondaries with his arm if given the chance.

The main problem with this happening is they're playing DB at Strong Side DE not Dion's Drop End spot. Tony Washington is Dion's backup.

For now! Dion 6'7 240, Deforest 6'7 230..... I think once Dion goes to the pros and Buckner gets a year under his belt he will slide over.... We'll see...

The two may share the same size, but after that there arent as many similarities. Check out Dion Jordan's 40 coming in as a recruit. 4.6 Seconds And Deforest Buckner's 40 as a recruit: 5.04 Seconds a whole half second almost. Not to say that Deforest is slow.. but his speed might not project as much to a Drop End as you may think. Jordan had his speed and grew into the size he is. Deforest was already bigger and slower as a HS kid, and still will fill out some probably.

If you are looking for similar Speed coming out of High School and size to add to it, your best bet might be to argue for Christian French being the drop end of the future.

Buckner gained 30+ pounds in a year? What are they feeding this kid?

if you follow recruiting & college football for a while you'll notice that 20-30 pound swings in weight (up or down) are pretty common for the Lineman. In fact, I recall Ricky Heimuli gained 40 pounds from his Sr year in HS to his Freshman year. Through diet & training, Oregon helps players sculpt their bodies to be optimal for where they plan to play. Apparently DB is focused on bulk more then speed, which is echoed in his listing as a Strong Side DE in the depth chart

Well I played college football and 30+ pounds in less then a year is an effort if done safely and you're not adding needless water weight.... that's a ton of muscle to put on...

BTW- he was listed 230 spring of last year... so that's 30+ in under six months....

Bulk weight always concerns me cause if not maintained in the offseason if can easliy turn to fat... I don't want Buckner turning into a 6'7 fatty!

really? I never saw a list of the Spring Weights or noticed them updated from the previous fall... link please

it seems especially unlikely that Buckner's weight would have been taken & updated since he was still back in Hawaii attending HS
