I'm reading some of the player rankings on espn.com (places 160-240) and find out a few things I didn't know:

Anthony Morrow is with the Hawks

    Aaron Brooks with Sacramento

Jarrett Jack is with Golden State

    Landry Fields is with Toronto

    Gustavo Ayon is with Orlando

He was a rookie last season. He's actually a pretty damn decent player. He'll be just as good or better than Freeland IMHO.

Watch him SWAT that bitch Westbrook's dunk attempt at :34.

Ramon Sessions and Ben Gordon with the Bobcats.

    D.J. Augustin with Indiana.

Check out the player movement page on hoopshype.com. It has a great list of all the acquisitions for every team.

Ayon is interesting because the Hornets signed him mid-season from his Spanish club (where he was, indeed, putting up a superior "ranking" number (sort of the ACB version of PER) than Freeland, and might've been leading the league at the time. He was MVP of November in the ACB:

It always surprises me that (a) this is possible (Euro teams releasing players from their contracts in the middle of a season - it also happened with Nenad Krstic when the Thunder signed him first) and (b) that if it IS possible, why it doesn't happen more often. My guess is that it happens to players who have made a surprising leap in productivity that their Euro team didn't foresee enough to put a big buyout in their contract.

Fans of other teams are probably unaware that we have Sasha Pavlovic and Jared Jeffries. Or that the Bucks have Joel Przybilla.

I bet those fans will be jealous when they find out.

Seriously, though, just look at the career stats for Sasha and Jeffries. How do these guys last in the league for 9-10 years? It's not like they were practice guys on good teams--they were often on bad Knicks, Wizards, T-wolves and Cleveland teams. Why would you keep them around instead of going with younger guys with some amount of upside?

Come to think of it, what the fuck are we doing with them?

Have I ever mentioned that Olshey thinks like a Clipper?

We've been on the Allen gravy boat so long, buying the best reserves. Welcome to the other half, what it will be like if we change owners.

Have you done your homework before making this comment? We haven't bought anyone and are most certainly not paying their salaries.

    What Olshey did was BRILLIANT.

OK Let's break it down. Click on the link then go to our salary.

    http://www.storytellerscontracts.com/

    1. These guys are simply practice players who will rarely play in games.
    2. Their $$$ counts against our cap, but we are NOT paying them. NY is paying Jefferies and Boston's paying Pav (Gadzurich's salary fell RIGHT off our books as it was already not guaranteed money)
    3. Look at next year. Their salaries are NOT guaranteed. They will NOT be on the roster next season and those salaries (along with probably Babbit and Nolan) will fall off our our books immediately.

What Olshey is doing is positioning our team to be able to offer ANOTHER Max Deal next season. All while not paying these players EVER.

It's a brilliant move and we did it by trading FELTON.... (Olshey actually GOT something for Felton!!)

For most owners, especially the Clippers, saving a couple of million dollars is a priority. But Paul Allen has always paid a little extra to have potential, not just scrubs, in those bottom roster slots. We're now seeing how most owners operate, with a few old, truly hopeless journeymen with no potential, even if only of the imaginable variety.
