While there is such a thing as martial arts self-defense for paraplegics, and wheelchair boxing, search YouTube for that, wheelchair MMA, as far as I know, is new. UK (where else...) fighting promotion UCFC is going to do some kind of event with wheelchair MMA and MMA for people with amputations/physical differences. I'm not exactly sure how it would work. I mean, I can picture two guys in chairs duking it out. Wheelchair rugby and basketball are good indicators of how well some people can maneuver in a chair. Seems like grappling between chairs is a different ball of wax. Kudos for UCFC for giving these (adult) people a crack at it but I hope it isn't purely a promotional stunt for the company.
