Anything that has to do with an ex Blazer on the level of Brandon is never off topic here.

My feelings exactly. I don't know how his knees are going to hold up, but man, from there on up he's still Brandon. Damn.

Best of luck to him, except when he plays the Blazers.

This is as OT as news about Craig Smith, Hasheem Thabeet, Jonny Flynn, Raymond Felton, Jamal Crawchuck. Hell, even they played for us last year. Brandon Roy is not a member of this team, and hasn't been for a year. Let it go

I can relate to Colt fans right now. Makes me sad and I wish him the best.

To some, I'm sure. To me, Brandon Roy is a player who only played 321 for Portland, and never got us out of the first round mostly due to the ISO's ran for him. I wish him nothing but the best, but people seem to revere him on the same level as guys like Drexler, who played 826 games for Portland.

I think everyone should hold those happy memories as close as they can.

I just don't believe dwelling on it is logical. I loved Brandon Roy's big shots as much as I loved Audie Norris' big shot against Dallas in 1985 to actually get us out of the first round

Or Bill Walton, who played only 209 games for Portland (yeah, I know Walton was the best player on the 1977 championship team).

A year, or so, ago, there was a thread about retiring Roy's number. At the time, most posters didn't think he'd played enough games to be worthy of having his number retired. In addition to Walton, Roy also played more games as a Blazer than Dave Twardzik and Lionel Hollins, and almost as many as Maurice Lucas (and that includes the 73 games Luke played for the Blazers at 35 when he averaged 6 points and 4 reb).

Roy scored more points (6107) as a Blazer than:

    Buck Williams (5,677)
    Arvydas Sabonis (5,629)
    Maurice Lucas (5,151)*
    Rod Strickland (5,044)
    Larry Steele (5,009)*
    Lloyd Neal (4,846)*
    Bob Gross (4,484)*
    Lionel Hollins (4,379)*
    Bill Walton (3,578)*

    * = number retired by Blazers

Roy was a very important part of our team while he was here. He was a great clutch player that hit many game winning shots. His time here was limited by knee injuries, but when he as healthy, he was one of the best Blazers ever and deserves to be acknowledged as such.

Only two of those players numbers should be retired though. Roy quit on the team. His doctors told him to retire so he did and now his doctors apparently said to come back and take the money Portland gave you and play somewhere else. Great player while here. Not here anymore. Move on.
