i mean i see a lot of people saying theyre gunna be superstars one day and comparing them to players who are already top players in the league (i admin i've caught myself saying this) and we arent willing to get rid of any of them because we've fallen in love with their hustle and developmentbut are we overvaluing how good our youth will be?like gerald green..he's excellent on offense but it seems like he's never played defense in his lifeand jefferson..hes great on the boards and backing down but he's really bent out of shape..your thoughts?

i think alot of us do. i myself even overrate their trade value sometimes. We'll have to know that if we keep all this talent together, there are going to be duds, and it's going to be crowded, so others won't develop fully.

I think if anything I underrated them. I don't really expect anything from them yet. I want them to get more experience but wouldn't expect a whole lot from them when they do.

Exactly! Like, we can't keep all of West, Rondo, Telfair. They all need to play and develope fully, they won't here. One needs to go. Sure, Gerald could be a star, he has all the potential in the world. But is he really ever going to do it in Boston behind Paul Pierce? I mean even when Pierce is 33-34 years old, he'll still be "the man" in Boston.

Bottom line, we need to trade a young guy or two so we can develope these kids to their full potential.

Yeah I do sometimes to. I talk about Greg Oden liike he's already a superstar in the NBA. I've done it with a lot of players from the last two drafts also.

Being a Raptors fan, I definatley always say the Boston youg guys have amazing potential. Gomes, Green, Rondo, Telfair, Jefferson.I know that all of them can be potential stars in the league anytime soon.

That's great to think about, but if you sit back and think - West and Gomes are the only ones who have actually done something so far, so potential is crap without work. Without time and effort, potential means nothing. I'm glad to see/hear about the young guys working out every day in Waltham though.

But either way, we overvalue our youth. From the way some Celtics fans talk about our youth, Big Al is the next Moses Malone, Gerald is the next T-Mac, Perk is Big Ben, etc. And I will admit, I am guilty a little, I mean we all our in our own respects. But, we need to calm down, sit back, and watch. Gerald gets somewhat of a "free pass" if you will this year. He's raw and out of HS. But by year 3, I expect him to make an impact, at least as a key player off the bench. Delonte has already made a jump, and Gomes came in ready. Big Al needs to turn it up a notch and start taking his work ethic to a whole 'nother level. He needs to have a good year. Perk is Perk, he is a hard worker and he has improved a LOT since his rookie year, so I really am not worried about him. Telfair has the chance to excel here in Boston. He was held back in Portland because they play an overly-structured, half-court set game. Here, Telfair is able to thrive off the running game. I honestly think that Telfair will work out excellent here in Boston, but again, I'm not getting too ahead of myself this time. I'm going to hope, cheer, wait, and see. That's what we all need to do.

I disagree, I think Telfair should start. He brings playmaking ability, speed, and quickness at the PG position. If you start Delonte, we have ZERO shooting off the bench in our 2nd unit rotation. We need that.
