Daniel-Day Lewis as Lincoln? Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln? Tommy Lee Jones as Thaddeus Stevens? This has "best movie of the decade" written all over it. Nov. 9th. Can't wait.
...I am curious to see how they portray history, Hollywood usually has ulterior motives -- but nevertheless, it should be a great movie from an entertainment standpoint.
The movie is based upon a historical biography of Lincoln, specifically the end of the Civil War. Hopefully Spielberg will stick to the facts, which by themselves were pretty dramatic.
Honestly I've been hearing rumblings that The Master is the mind blowing must watch film of the decade. I'm excited for The Master, because it is a broad look at the cult of personality, and how it impacts gullible and unstable people. I have a raging boner for Lincoln, though. I hope it's as good as Munich.
spielberg movies arent exactly synonymous with "best movies of the decade", unless "lincoln" also has concentration camps and a little girl in a red dress the master looks pretty incredible though
I'm really hoping this movie is good but honestly the last Spielburg directed movie I liked was Private Ryan and that was 14 years ago.
I'm interested in seeing the moving and I will not be going into it with the expectation of seeing a "best movie of the decade." It'll also be interesting to see how Daniel Day-Lewis portrays good ol' Abe. I'm not sure if he can surpass his acting performance in There Will Be Blood, but he's a good choice in portraying our 16th president.
Yeah, I have to agree. I bet they place all the focus on his mental illness as well as Mary Todds. Try to make Booth look like a hero or some such shit. I think the best "Lincoln" film out this you may very well be the "Lincoln, the Vampire slayer" film, what ever that peice of shit is called....
