Do these things really work. I know working out and diet are the key, but do these shakes really help?
I have a friend that had good results with this one: http://www.tigerfitness.com/Gaspari-Nutrition-Detonate-p/detonate.htm
Just an interesting fact: The same person when heavier will have a slower metabolism than when they are lighter weight. Which means when you weigh an extra 20 lbs, you have to work harder and eat less calories to maintain your weight than when you are 20 lbs lighter to maintain you weight.
They work great but are only as good as your overall health strategy. Use a shake to replace one or two meals for a well balanced way of keeping your over all calories in check. If you real meal is bacon cheeseburgers and cake though then don't expect much from the shake.
Short answer is no. They can work short term, but many many diets work short term. And short term is worse than maintaining a fixed weight. One of the very best weight loss tricks that works for the long term is not consume any liquid calories. The only allowed liquid is water unsweetened coffee or tea. Multiple studies have shown that liquid calories consumed do not reduce food calorie consumption by an equal amount leading to extra calories.
probably if you're eating shitty foods, if you replace them with shakes i guess it would work. but then you crave that shit still. I'm just trying to eat cleaner (except for today which was cheeseburger day). I've only been eating salads for lunch or maybe a wrap with no mayo and light dressing. you actually start liking the taste of healthy foods if you eat them more and more and stay away from fried and greasy foods. like last night, i was kind of craving some panda express. said fuck it and got a chicken cesar salad instead. yeah yeah, the cesar dressing isn't good but its a fuck of a lot better than having rice, noodles and fried chicken with a sweet sugar orange sauce.
When I read the title, this is what came to mind:
