"you didn't build that!" was four (five) words. Romney was not cut down to just a statement.

I had heard (could be wrong again, nothing new) That MJ came across the "full" tapes about 3 weeks ago and were moving as fast as they could to get them verified.

So who made the video? Why would he sit on it until 3 weeks ago?

I don't believe for a minute that he just came out of the blue and offered it up after 3+ months passed. The guy must be politically aware to be at the fundraiser in the first place.

Can you link me a quote to Romney saying "the poor are lazy".

    Thanks.

Is it really true that 47% of voters don't pay taxes?

hey, if Obama can be accused of saying people didn't build their businesses when if you listen to the context of the statement right before he said it, I think we can assume that context won't help Romney here.

No. About 46% do not pay federal income tax, but most of those do pay federal payroll tax. Some people have incomes so low (less than 16K per year) they don't qualify. Active duty military personnel in combat zones do not pay federal income tax. Some retiress on social security do not. Some more middle class families have enough deductions, due to children, homeownership, etc that they don't end up owing federal income tax, all tax breaks supported by Bush & Congressional Republicans as well as Democrats. Again, they still pay federal payroll tax.

And the 46% also pay state and local taxes, sales taxes, etc.

However, around 7000 millionaires paid no federal income tax in 2011. I wonder if Mitt considers them freeloaders who won't ever take responsibility for their lives?

I think this is a fundelmental flaw in your thinking. What you think is Romney misspeaking is for some of us very foretelling. What has Romeny done to show he cares about the middle class and the poor. We know he thinks they believe they are victims and entitled to things. He certainly didn't say good things about 47% of the population.

Personally if I thought the guy had a heart and would be concerned for poor and lower middle class, I would seriously be considering him. But I don't . . . yet. Looking forward to the debates.

Everyone of the 47% believes this, damn it!

He is just a couple of step away from "all Black people feel entitled". :)

Actually, more than 47% of voters don't pay INCOME taxes.

The "47%" number refers to people who FILE TAX RETURNS that don't pay any income tax. Many people who vote do not file tax returns.

Also, it is more than that 47% don't pay income taxes, the majority of those 47% recieve cash from the IRS. Called the Earned Income Tax Credit.

And to be sure those 47% do pay taxes - Social Security, Medicare and State taxes (could be Income or Sales, etc.) - just not any Federal Income Tax.

Not as disappointed as I think most of us are by that pretty weak attempt at a joke you just laid there.

He does have a record as governor of Mass. You think he'd push through RomneyCare there if he didn't care about the poor and lower middle class? He proposed indexing the minimum wage to inflation, and a minimum wage increase. He signed off on a huge budget increase to build low cost housing. He proposed $8B in bonds to fund school building projects. He established a fund to pay for FREE tuition to the state's universities and colleges to the top 25% of high school students.

He did a lot of things for the people who served in the wars (tax exemptions, cash handouts, etc.).

I don't think his record was all peachy, but I also don't think you can find in his actual record anything that indicates he doesn't care for people at the lowest end of the wage scale.
