Romney's immediate response tonight at a campaign rally. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/romney-rips-obama-t-change-washington-204610881--election.html
Again, PapaG reads an inconsequential quote and starts a teeny-weeny thread. Then I say no one cares. Then the same 3 Republicans show up to say, I care about it. This should have been combined with existing threads. No one can keep up with them all on a current basis when there are 40 new theads a day on the OT board.
It's inconsequential that your president, and the president you voted for, admits he can't change Washington from the inside after and entire campaign build on "change"?
Nowhere does President Obama say that he is going to work to reach across the aisle. Nixon worked with a Democratic congress, so did Reagan and both Bushes. Clinton worked with a Republican congress. Yet it's too much for President Obama to reach accomodation with one house of congress? What happened to the smartest president ever?
His characterization of how health care was done is hilarious and something out of bizarro world. The good people of Massachusetts elected a Republican to take the seat held by Ted Kennedy to stop it, and they found a way around. Nancy Pelosi told us we had to pass it to find out what's in it. In 2010, there was a landslide to attempt to overturn it. Bottom line, this bill was written ages ago by Washington lobbyists and was pulled out of the Democrats' file cabinet. No one even read it. If there is an example of a more inside bill, I don't know what it could be.
Our government is such a hated laughingstock. It was easier to take when we were clearly the supreme nation and powerhouse. Thanks Bill Clinton! " [T]his agreement will create jobs for America. It will create jobs for labor union members." "This is a hundred-to-nothing deal for America when it comes to the economic consequences." Quotes from Bill Clinton regarding China's entry into the WTO and granting permanent normal trade relations with the U.S. He also asserted that granting PNTR would "increase U.S. jobs and reduce our trade deficit." However, since China entered the WTO the trade deficit has skyrocketed and manufacturing jobs in the U.S. have plummeted.
