    1. Magic Johnson
    2. Shaquille O'Neal (put Shaq in his prime vs. Kareem in his prime.. Shaq would demolish him)
    3. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
    4. Kobe Bryant (will move up, had a hard time not putting him at #3)
    5. Jerry West

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Melo061 @ Aug 6 2006, 05:53 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>You have got to be kidding me Kobe is not and i mean not better than magic. Magis has proven to be a way better leader, is a better passer, rebounder and teamate. He won the finals mvp in his rookie year. Magic won 5 rings in the toughest era ever, without him the lakers would not work and we would not have the 5 championships.I can't believe you said that, that's blasphemy. I demand your retract that.</div>No, I demand you stop being stupid.I said Kobe is the better basketball player. Which he is. One on one, he would take Magic back to the 80's where he belongs. (In both players' primes) Now, Magic may be a better passer and team leader, doesn't mean he is a more talented player. The only other basketball player of all-time who had more talent than Kobe, is Michael Jordan. And the only one who has potential to be better than Michael Jordan is LeBron James. Magic is not as skilled as Kobe on the offense. Not a chance in the world. No one is now. Magic was not as good as Kobe was at defense. Kobe has been on the All-NBA Defensive First Team 3 times. Magic Johnson was never on the defensive teams.

Kobe Bryant may not become the greatest Laker but he's already a better player than MagicTo me, better player=skill+intagiblesKobe is more skilled in the scoring department, magic blows him away in the passing department+ playmaking. Defense goes to kobe. Clutchness goes to magic.Intangibles, magic blows Kobe out of the water. Magic's leadership, intelligence on the basketball court is way ahead of kobe. So as you can see, Kobe is not the better basketball player. He's the better individual basketball player but he's not actually the better "basketball" player.

I know exactly who Jerry West is. He is the PG/SG that helped anchor the Lakers along with Baylor. But the thing is, he just definately doesnt deserve it over Kobe, Shaq, or Kareem.I don't know basketball? What? You want to have a debate then? I think I know alot of basketball. It is dumb to put him that high. I was just questioning your choice of putting him 2nd. Notice no one else has him 2nd on their lists...<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (wolverine30 @ Sep 3 2006, 01:56 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>1. Magic2. Wilt3. Kobe4. Kareem5. He definately doesnt deserve a spot over Laker greats such as Kobe, Kareem, Shaq, Elgin Baylor, and Jerry West.

    1. Magic2. Kareem3. Kobe... but I might be pushing it4. Shaq5. The LogoI put Kobe ahead of Shaq mostly because of the future I see in him... Shaq is near the horizon and Kobe looks to stay a Laker until retirement. That and talent plays a big part

I believe offense+defense, skill (you'd be crazy to say Kobe doesn't have ALOT of skill) and talent, makes someone a better player. Kobe is way better than Magic at offense and defense. Clutch.. Well, Magic was very clutch in crunch time but Kobe makes the game winning shots (most of them)Also, Magic had the potential to average 25 PPG for his career, which is excellent. But Kobe blows him away in offensive skill, IMO.Also, Kobe has maybe 10 more years to prove he can:become a better passer than he already isBecome a better leader than Magic, or somewhat close to magic's leadershipWin 2-3 ringsBecome better at defense than he already isBecome even more clutchPlay with the certain intangibles Magic did

How many superstar players end up playing for one team (even MJ wasn't able to do it), it was west and wilt who were the core of that 72 team(won 33 straight games) not elgin. This is my list why would i change it ??? just because others didn't put him second meaning i can't put him there too. I respect all their list even though i disagree with some of them...........that is their list not mine.winning a debate doesn't mean that you know more basketball, this is no debate class. You mean a person who can't speak english don't know nothing about basketball, coz there's no way that person can win a debate against someone who speaks fluent english but has no knowledge about basketball. Debate is all about twisting others words and using it to your advantage.
