I watched the first 12 seconds of this. Calories per day is not the same as calories per lunch. Calories per student involved in sports is not the same as calories per student. Next? barfo
800 cals x 3 meals a day=2400 cals, so I ask: what the fuck is the point of that video? Should we give them smaller lunches? The statistic says active teens need 2000+, but I bet less than half of teens are "active". If your mission was to convince me we need to start serving 600 calorie lunches then you have sold me. I am 100% on board.
Teenage boys need at least 4-5000 calories a day. Kids don't like eating tofu and lentils. What do you eat for lunch? A salad every day?
who the fuck cares what kids like? should we open a taco bell in every school if that's what they like? they have 18 hours a day, the weekend and the entire summer to eat whatever garbage they want. but for one meal a day, like 150 days a year, they're gonna have to suck it up and eat a healthy meal, or they could just bring their own lunch if it's really that big of a deal. nobody is stopping them from eating 1 million calories a day if that's what they want to do.
I'm not sure where Michelle Obama fits into this. 850 calories for lunch seems like a lot. I tend to eat about 400 calorie lunches. Calories aren't the whole story. You can get 4000 calories from a couple of Carl's Jr. burgers, but you can also get heart disease from eating that way.
