I don't think getting ~30K puts you in the 1%. Hell, for a UC Davis student the estimated cost for a non-resident is about 55Kper year. Tuition alone for one year costs more than they will get from their settlement. (tuition is ~ $36,700) UC Davis tuition and shit

Yeah I don't feel sorry for them that their tuition is so high. The first two years of college are also worthless, if there was less artificial demand these kids would graduate faster.
I very recently worked with a UC-Davis grad who was the son of a farmer from a small farm near Yreka Cali. His family was having a real hard time making ends meet. So the only person I personally know from UC-Davis was very far from a 1%er. I never asked if he had scholarships or if his parents just saved for many years, but either way they weren't made of money. By the way, he worked with me on a project aiming to help cancer treatment patients have fewer side effects from chemotherapy, what a self-entitled douche!
