While some will argue that Stephon Marbury is a cancer and a bad teammate, others will tell you he is one of the most talented point guards in the NBA. So, why not match him up against undoubtably one of the best young emerging point guards in the league, in Tony Parker. Tony is hands down top three when it somes to quickness in the NBA. His ballhandling can put people to sleep, and as soon as you begin to doze off, he blows by you for a lay-up. While not the best jump shooter, his shot is improving, and most of all his shot selection has become better. But who needs a jump shot when you can score in the paint like he can? He was 3rd in the league in Field Goal Percentage, and that was due to his seemingly effortless drives to the paint, and finishing with a lay-in. Defensively he can keep up with the quickest guards in the league, but in man-on-man defense isn't as good as I think he can be. Parker also plays well in every postseason. Stephon has been called a cancer, bad teammate, and a whole list of other negative things, but one thing no one can deny is his talent. Plagued by injuries this year Steph has taken a step back in his game, but when healthy is still a top tier point guard in the NBA. His averages for a season are usually around 20 points and 8 assists a game, throw on a steal or two a game and that makes for one pretty good point guard. Although he hasn't been to a post season in a while, I still think Steph is a top NBA point guard, but is he as good as Parker?
Talent: Steph. He is averaging 20/8 for career, which is pretty amazing.Overall: Parker. More efficient scorer, and better teammate.
Marbury is better than Parker but, Parker is the better teammate. Parker and Stephs driving to the basket is kinda equal. Steph has the better jumper. Parker only shoots jump shots if there in the ppaint or if hes wide open. Marbury is the better playmaker buut makes bad desizcions but still better. so I have to say Marbury even tho i want him out of NY
Parker is wayyy more valuable to his team, and I think if you asked every coach in the NBA who they'd rather have on their team, they'd choose Parker.
pfff i'd pick Stephon Marberry. I'd be willing to take a chance with him, and if all ends well he'd take a team as far as Parker, but with worse teammates. Marberry is a better passer.
Yeah people call him a cancer, but I didn't see that in Phoenix. Stephon has a lot of talent and was great for us. He was one of the better 4th quarter players in the league, was great driving to the basket and was a good passer. All that stuff about him being a bad teammate is not true. Nobody had a problem with him. He was actually one of Barbosa's best friends and helped him improve. You see a lot of Marbury in Barbosa. From what I saw of Marbury I definetly think he's better. He did a good job in the playoffs too but the Suns just weren't very good at all. They did pretty good for a team with only Marbury, Marion and an Amare just beggining his career. Now, I also really like Parker. He improved his game a lot last year and I think soon, maybe this year, he will become the better player.
Depends what exactly are you asking? Who is more talented ot who would you want to start a franchise around? If it was who is more talented it's easily Marbury. Very few people can average 208 and 8 throught a career and Starbury is doing it. He's one of the most talented PG's in the league. If it was who to build a franchise around I would easily choose Parker and I don't feel I really need to explain myself for that one.
No doubt I'd take Parker. He is a better teammate and by far the better slasher. Marbury is not necessarily a great outside shooter but he takes a lot of those shots. Parker by far better on defense as well. No contest on who I'd take.

Parker HANDS DOWN.</div>no doubt - people often underestimate being a winner!!!! as good as steph is- he's always been on teams either in the cellar or on the verge of medocrity
I would take Parker. Stephon is sort of a cancer on the court too. He isnt ahuge help to teams. He dribbles the ball too much, and can be a detriment to an offense. I would take Parker because of his driving ability. He's a special player. He can score 20, on a very high percentage, and that is a good thing to be able to do. He is an okay passer too.
