don't see the big deal. Like it said, she can't give money, so she gives prayer to her candidate.

I have no problem with praying or fasting. I grew up Catholic. I do think its weird that you would fast specifically for Romney. Thats just creepy weird.

I dont get the creepy weird thing, I have seen requests for prayers in the Catholic church, for all kinds of things. To ask ones god to give another strength or wisdom, well seems like your sitting predsident could use some of that.

How about they fast for the country instead?

it would be just as weird (and oddly enough, proof that "obummer" is a bad president to conservatives) if an Obama supporter did the same.

The article states that she was "frustrated with the state of the country." In essence, she's fasting that the country improve by fasting for a candidate she believes will make improvements. To be candid, I pray for the leaders of the country (regardless of who they are) that they will lead the country in a direction that benefits it. I don't think I'll be fasting for Romney though...

I'm completely non-religious and not some hippie-dippy wingnut, but if you haven't fasted before I really recommend giving it a shot. I try to do 2-5 fasts of 36 hours every month. Badass way to drop a few pounds and make you appreciate that food is really just fuel.

I stop eating around 7pm at night, skip the entire next day, then have a reasonable breakfast (bacon and eggs and coffee, usually). Only real hard part is between around 6pm and sleep on that second day. Just have to power through it. Otherwise, you literally spend nearly half the fast asleep.

Not a typical fast, I suppose. I drink lots of coffee/diet soda and will drink a little booze (doesn't take much).

It's not the main reason I've dropped 80 pounds over the past 2.5 years, but it's helped. A lot of people like 18/6-type plans, where you fast for 18 hours and eat for 6. But I never cared much for them.

I was raised Jewish, although nonobservant atheist. Jews fast on Yom Kippur as an act of atonement, not to ask/demand G-d do something for them in the secular world.

But hell, it's her life, I don't think it's going to have any effect, but if it makes her feel useful... although I'd rather she spend a day volunteering for her local food bank.
