Longtime UFC & MMA veteran Dennis Hallman was supposed to fight tomorrow but was unable to make weight for the second straight time (missed by 2.5-lbs. at UFC 140). Hallman badly missed the weight limit of 156-lbs. today, reportedly by seven pounds, and his fight with Thiago Tavares was called-off. Both fighters will be paid their show & win money but Hallman has been released from the promotion. The 36-year old from Olympia, Washington first drew the ire of UFC brass at UFC 133 where he faced Brian Ebersole wearing bikini briefs that failed to contain his equipment during the bout. Following his win at UFC 140 Hallman famously exclaimed "come quickly Jesus, we're barely hanging on", leading some to question his mental state. Today he has announced that serious family problems weighed heavily on his mind and lead to his weight-cutting problems, and that he was returning home to try and address them.
